Project 1:

Name of Project : Virtual COM Driver

Client : Symbol Technologies
Software : C, C++, WinCE 5.0, and Platform Builder.

Description:
MC1000 virtual COM driver creates three virtual COM ports on MC1000 so that a
printer, CDMA serial modem and magnetic stripe/smart card reader can
communicate with MC1000 simultaneously. User can connect these three peripherals
to MC1000 COM1 serial port through a Serial Splitter, which is designed and
manufactured by the hardware vendor. Serial splitter has been designed for splitting
the data coming out of COM1 port and then sending to the correct device by
checking the serial data header.

Involvement: (Duration: 8 months)

 Understanding stream device driver architecture in WinCE platform.
 Understanding the platform builder for WinCE 5.0
 Implementation of the driver
 Design of the hardware specifications
 Testing (Unit & Integration) the drivers and applications with the
MC1000

Project 2:

Name of Project : OS Migration for symbol MC9000, MC9060 and MC9090 devices
(From WinCE 4.2 to WinCE 5.0)
Client : Symbol Technologies
Software : C, WinCE 4.2, WinCE 5.0, Platform Builder

Description: The best-selling rugged handheld mobile computer is now even

better. Symbol has released refreshed configurations of the MC9000 series, Now,
speed response with ready access to the most current enterprise information. Used
in retail, manufacturing, logistics and industrial environments, the rugged MC9000
mobile computers increase productivity by giving your employees timely access to
the information they need to do their jobs faster and better. You gain overall
operational efficiencies and reduce the costs and quality issues associated with data
input errors. Rugged designs and comfortable form factors enhance both device and
employee productivity and protect your investments in mobile technology. Ease of
deployment and management reduces your IT costs and increases return on
investment.

Extending and migrating the existing OS and drivers to a newer OS version With the
lot more features embedded in to a device.

Involvement: (Duration: 1 year)

 Understanding the WinCE Platform Architecture.
 Understanding the differences between WinCE 4.2 and WinCE 5.0.
 Understanding the stream device driver architecture in winCE platform.
 Migrating the WinCE 4.2 BSP (Keylight, Backlight,Serial,Audio and
Battery,Scanner and Etc) to WinCE5.0 platform.
 Testing (Unit & Integration) the drivers and applications with the
MC9000, MC9060 and MC9090 devices.

Project 3:

Name of Project : Created applications for MK2000

Client : Symbol Technologies
Software : C++, MFC, WinCE 4.2

Description: Symbol Ask is a Micro Kiosk application, which will run on a special
symbol device called MK2000.With the MK2000 Micro Kiosk™; you give customers an
exceptional and personalized shopping experience without the expense of a
dedicated sales associate. Designed for eye-catching informational applications in
retail environments, the space-saving, interactive MK2000 enables you to provide
information at strategic locations to increase sales and save customer and employee
time. Using the multimedia capabilities of the MK2000, you’re able to attract your
customers quickly to the information they need with sophisticated, interactive
applications that enhance the transaction experience, and increase basket size and
customer satisfaction at the same time.
This has been designed for multiple applications. It has many applications running
on the device. But I have created two applications the first one is conference room
booking and the second one is time monitoring system. It has an inbuilt scanner,
which is used to scan the data. And it has a scanner application running in the
device.
But for convenient I have used some special symbol SMDK’s (Symbol Mobility
Development Kit) and some API’s to invoke the scanner wedge. The application that
I have created is very much user friendly and it is very easy to use

Involvement: (Duration: 6 Months)

 Understanding MFC and Win 32 API’s.
 Writing the code and Unit testing.
 Invoking Scanner wedge through writing some code.
 Implementing my own calendar using Cscrollview
 Implementing my own GradientFill Function.
 Understanding how to connect to the server-using HTTP.

2. Training Experience (May 2003 to April 2004)

I have been associated with Dr. T. Chockalingam. He is a private software
consultant. He used to give training in the areas of embedded systems, RTOS,
Networking and many other fields. I have taken training in the embedded systems
from May 2003 to April 2004.
 Attended 1 month of RTOS training program conducted in Robert Bosch
India Private Limited.
 Attended one and half month of EMBEDDED SYSTEM training program
conducted in Tata Elxsi Limited.
