SASi Program and Meeting April 3 at 7 pm. Artist Susan Lackey will work with us to make our own stamps for
mixed media, in advance of her upcoming workshop on April 21 “Abstracts You Will Love”. This is a Free Program.
Doors open at 6:30 to meet and greet.
Saturday April 21 - Painting Abstracts You Will Love with Susan Lackey
Time: 9:30 AM-4:00 PM Cost: $80 per student for SASi members and $85 non-members
Student Skill Level: All Levels Ages: 15 and older
Materials: All Supplies Included Lunch: Bring your own
Class Description: This workshop is designed to help you make abstract art you feel happy
about. You will use inks, acrylics, various mark making tools to paint on a 16’x16” painting
panel. And best of all, you will have fun and learn lots. Creating abstracts can be daunting
but not in this workshop. Susan will guide you through a series of steps in her stress-free
process. You will create a textured underpainting and use layering as you paint with
different media. Toward the end of the day, Susan will show you how to self-evaluate your
painting. She will demonstrate and help you individually to achieve an expressive work of
art that you will love. This is the kind of workshop you can take many times. You will
produce different results each time you take it.
Saturday April 28 - Creativity Unblocked: Intuitive Painting
with Stacey Pilkington Smith

Student Skill Level: All Levels Minimum Age: 14 and older
Materials: Some Supplies Included – See Supply List for what to bring Lunch: Bring your own
Class Description: This workshop is about both technique and creative exploration – a process of letting
go in a non-judgmental space of experimentation. There are no mistakes here. You’ll be transforming
your canvas with 5-7 layers using: color, conventional/unconventional techniques, acrylic paint, and
washes/glazes. Before hands-on instruction begins, we will cover color theory (briefly), texture,
harmony, negative space, line, and balance. Art shown is example created with these techniques.
