TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is with reference to application of Mr. Rabin Dhakal for Graduate Students
Research Fellowship
(GSRF-2018) program of American Society of Nepalese Engineers (ASNEngr). I
am very much pleased to accept his research proposal on low head turbine
technology and would supervise his thesis as internal supervisor. I have known
about his research activities on low head turbine technology since his final year of
BE degree in Pulchowk Campus. I taught him courses of 1 st year and fourth year i.e
Engineering Thermodynamics and Finite Element Method in BE and currently
teaching him Advance Vibration in Msc. I am impressed by his achievement in the
research of low head turbine. He has also been credited with several awards and
achievement including recent best paper award in International Conference on
Renewable Energy Research and Application (ICRERA 2017), at San Diego, CA, USA.
I find Mr. Dhakal a highly motivated, hard-working person, with a real passion for
research in renewable energy and providing sustainable electricity generation to
those people who do not already have access.
Rabin has a wide range of engineering skills like analytical techniques such as
computational fluid dynamics and also practical experimentation and
implementation experience. Rabin has shown great initiative to seek out further
opportunities for his research, and has developed international collaborations with
academia and industry. He has already published a number of conference and
journal articles to disseminate the details of his research, showing his ability to
develop real impact from research.

In this regard, I am happy to accept the new research proposal of Mr. Dhakal on low
head turbine
technology entitled “Optimizing the Design of Gravitational Water Vortex Power
Plant for the Site
Implementation Concerning Rural Electrification of Nepal ". In view of his consistent
track records, good credentials in research, his zeal of learning and his commitment
to goal, I strongly recommend Mr. Dhakal for the Fellowship Program. This would
also further develop his research and engineering skills and can contribute for low
head hydroelectric generation in various regions of south East Asia where there is
enough scope for development of low head turbine technology. If you need further
information about him or his application, you can contact me over phone or by
email.

Yours Sincerely
