Shaffer CS Critical Service Application Ram Rubber for

High H2S/HP/HT
The new Shaffer CS elastomer is now available after extensive qualification API testing. Replacement
rubbers are available for 13 5/8" 10,000 psi applications and have been qualified to the API standard
fatigue test a HP/HT well bore pressure simulation test and H2S immersion test.

The CS pipe ram rubber, developed for high temperature and H2S resistance, passed all three tests to
withstand drill stem fluid temperatures to 350 °F and 20% H2S exposure. Shaffer offers the CS superior
elastomer to fit existing Shaffer ram blocks.

High Temp Drill Stem Test

The design passed a 546 cycle API fatigue test, a 144 hour high pressure high temperature well bore
pressure test, simulated by high temperature fluid circulating inside the pipe to 350 °F and 10,000 psi
well bore pressure.

After exposure to 20% H2S, 15% CO2, 65% Methane and 350 °F, the CS elastomer retained excellent
elongation, modulus and tensile strength properties.

Shaffer CS pipe ram rubbers are currently available in 13 5/8" 10,000 psi.

The new elastomer compound can be made available for all Shaffer fixed pipe ram applications
depending on needs and demand. Contact your Shaffer representative for details.
