Dear Readers and Friends

Interesting picture – isn’t it? Why did we choose it for our front page?
The answer is simple: since May 1999 we have been publishing our Maerz News on paper and distributing it
to our customers and friends worldwide. This not only entailed a lot of logistics on our part but from today’s
perspective, in the day and age of the Cloud and the Internet, we would prefer to use resources otherwise.
We have therefore decided to make a change and in future will post our news on the Internet only.

At Maerz we are busy not only with new orders, but also with our continuous efforts to improve our product
portfolio for further optimisation of our design giving you more flexibility with future extension plans (such
as adding other fuels to your existing systems) as well as facilitating the maintenance of our kilns. We will
introduce these new features wherever appropriate in our new proposals for lime kilns.

We are also working hard on expanding our competence for turn-key installations in various areas of the
world together with our partner companies within the ThyssenKrupp group. This requires a lot of knowledge
of the specific conditions in each country, which we can provide to you due to ThyssenKrupp’s regional set
up. We will emphasise this subject in our presentation at the International Lime Association's conference in
Vancouver in October this year.

Latest Orders and References
SMA Mineral Oy‘s Maerz Finelime® kiln in Röyttä, Finland
SMA Mineral Oy, Finland
SMA Mineral Oy from Tornio, Fin-
land, has been operating a Maerz
PFR Kiln for more than ten years in
its Röyttä plant. The kiln ordered in
2001 is of the Finelime® type, pro-
ducing between 425 and 525 tons of
quicklime per day, burning limestone
with grain sizes of 15 to 40 mm or
40 to 60 mm and using both recycled
and heavy oil as fuels.
The client has now signed an order
with Maerz for the conversion of the
existing lime kiln to gas firing, using
CO gas with a calorific value of ap-
prox. 11’150 kJ (2’665 kcal) per m3n
from the ferro-chrome converters in
Outokumpu’s nearby stainless steel
plant.
Maerz will supply all materials and
equipment and will be responsible for
the complete erection work.
The converted kiln plant will be op-
erative in the second half of 2014.
Pesona Asli Sdn. Bhd.,
Malaysia
Pesona Asli Sdn. Bhd., domiciled in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, placed an
order with Maerz for the supply of
engineering, license, know-how,
equipment and technical assistance
for the installation of a Maerz PFR
kiln plant at its Kemaman
(Terengganu) plant. The lime will be
supplied to Eastern Steel Sdn. Bhd.
located adjacent to the lime plant, a
1.5 MT integrated steel complex
currently under construction.
The kiln of the R4S type will pro-
duce 500 tons per day of quicklime.
A mixture of converter and blast
furnace gas with a calorific value of
approx. 4’200 kJ (1’000 kcal)/m3n
will be used as fuel and limestone
with a grading between 40 and 80
mm will be processed in the kiln.
Maerz will supply materials and
equipment, such as special steel
structures for the suspended cylin-
ders and other key equipment.
The kiln plant is scheduled for start-
up during the first half of 2015.
Henan Boma Mining
Technology Co., Ltd., China
SUMEC International Technology
Co., Ltd., as the buyer, Shanghai
MUHE Engineering Co., Ltd., as the
general contractor, and Maerz Ofen-
bau AG, as the seller, signed a con-
tract for the installation of a 300 tpd
Maerz PFR Dolomite Kiln for Henan
Boma Mining Co., Ltd., the end-user
domiciled in Xinxiang City, PR Chi-
na.
The Maerz kiln of the R1P type with
circular shaft design will produce
300 tons of burnt dolomite per day
and will be fired with natural gas
with a minimum calorific value of
35’160 kJ (8’400 kcal) per m3n. Do-
lomite stone with a grading of 40 to
80 mm will be processed in this kiln.
The new plant is due for commis-
sioning at the end of 2014.
Tangshan Yanshan Iron &
Steel Co., Ltd., China
Tangshan Yanshan I&S Co., Ltd.,
domiciled in Qianan City, Hebei
Province, PR China, as the buyer,

and Maerz Ofenbau AG, as the sell-
er, signed a contract for the installa-
tion of 3 x 550/600 tpd Maerz PFR
Lime/Dolomite Kilns.
The new R4S type kilns of circular
shaft design will each produce 600
tons of burnt lime or 550 tons of
burnt dolomite per day. They will be
coal dust fired and limestone and
dolomitic stone with a grading of 40
to 90 mm will be processed in the
kilns.
Besides supplying know-how, li-
cense and the complete engineering,
Maerz will also supply special re-
fractory materials as well as key
components for the coal dust firing
system and the electrical, measuring
and control system.
Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron &
Steel Co., Ltd., China
Baosteel Europe GmbH, as the buyer
and Maerz Ofenbau AG, as the sell-
er, signed a contract for the installa-
tion of a 600 tpd Maerz PFR Lime
Kiln for Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron &
Steel Co., Ltd., as the end user.
The new R4S type kiln of circular
shaft design will produce 600 tons of
burnt lime per day. It will be fired
with either converter gas, having an
average calorific value of approx.
7’700 kJ (1’850 kcal) per m3n, or
mixed gas from converter and coke
oven gas, with an average calorific
value of 10’450 kJ (2’500 kcal) per
m3n. Limestone with a grading of 40
to 80 mm will be processed in this
kiln.
Besides supplying know-how, li-
cense and the complete engineering,
Maerz, having concluded a consorti-
um agreement with Polysius
(Shanghai) Co., Ltd., will also sup-
ply the major key equipment for the
new kiln plant with parts of the
equipment being manufactured in the
workshops of Polysius (Shanghai).
Furthermore, Maerz will delegate
experienced personnel to supervise
erection and commissioning of the
kiln, scheduled for mid-2015.
Iskenderun Iron & Steel Co.,
Turkey
Iskenderun Iron & Steel Co.,
ISDEMIR, domiciled in Iskenderun,
Turkey, operates two 600 tpd natural
gas fired Maerz PFR Kilns. The first
kiln – kiln No.7 – was ordered by
ISDEMIR in 2004, the second one –
kiln No. 8 – in 2005.
ISDEMIR has now entrusted Maerz
with the supply of engineering, li-
cense and know-how, as well as ma-
terials and equipment, for the instal-
lation of a coke oven gas firing sys-
tem on their kiln No. 7.
Maerz’s scope of equipment supply
comprises the complete gas firing
system including all related electric,
measuring and control equipment.
Furthermore, Maerz will delegate
specialised and experienced person-
nel for technical support during erec-
tion work and commissioning of the
new plant.
The new firing plant will be opera-
tive in the second half of 2014.

Implemented Project in Indonesia

PT Krakatau POSCO Chemtech Calcination
In early 2012 POSCO E&C, as the
buyer, and Maerz Ofenbau AG, as
the seller, signed a contract for the
installation of 3 x 330/350 tpd Maerz
PFR Lime Kilns, to be erected in
Cilegon for PT Krakatau POSCO
steel plant, a joint venture of Kraka-
tau Steel and POSCO.

The kilns of the Finelime type F2S

will each produce 330 to 350 tons of
burnt lime per day, processing lime-
stone with grain sizes between 20
and 80 mm and using coke oven gas
as fuel.

Shortly before the end of 2013 the

erection work of the kilns was com-
pleted and all systems were inspect-
ed and tested by POSCO E&C and
PT.KPCC, thus enabling the start-up
of the kilns as well as the execution
of the contractual guarantee test runs.
Consequently, the kilns were taken
over by PT.KPCC.

Hyundai Rotem Company, Dangjin
As announced in our December 2011
“Maerz News”, Hyundai Rotem
Company from Seoul, Korea, en-
trusted Maerz with the supply of
equipment, technical documentation,
technical assistance and training ser-
vices for another two PFR Kilns –
this time Finelime® Kilns - to be
installed in the Dangjin Works of
Hyundai Steel Corporation. The F3P
type kilns were to each produce up to
500 tons of burnt lime per day, using
coke oven gas as fuel.
The new kiln plant was recently
commissioned and the industrial
production started. During the con-
tractual guarantee test run with a
limestone grading of 15 to 40 mm
and 40 to 80 mm resp. the perfor-
mance and quality parameters as
listed in the adjacent table were
achieved.

Implemented Project in Romania
CELCO S.A., Constanţa
At the beginning of 2013 CELCO
150 S.A., domiciled in Constanţa, Roma-
nia, entrusted Maerz with the supply

know-how, materials and equipment

as well as supervision services for
the construction of a new Maerz lime

kiln in their Corbu (Constanţa Coun-
ty) lime plant.
One year later, in January 2014, the
kiln entered the industrial production
stage and the contractual perfor-
mance test run was carried out. The
quality and performance figures
reached are shown in the adjacent
table.
The Maerz HPS (High Performance
Single Shaft) Kiln built within the
scope of this contract is of the kiln
type H3-1 and produces 150 tons of
quicklime per day. Natural gas is
used as fuel and limestone with a
grain size of 20 to 40 and 40 to 80
mm are processed in this kiln.
