WHATSAPP STARTS TESTING VERIFIED BUSINESS ACCOUNTS

WhatsApp is planning to change the way it works with businesses by starting a program to verify
business accounts. The feature has been speculated for quite some time with WhatsApp finally
taking the step and changing the way users will engage with enterprises.

The new pilot program rolled out by the Facebook-owned messaging service tags some accounts
with a green check symbol once their contact information is verified

“If you see a green badge next to a contact’s name, it means WhatsApp has confirmed that
the phone number of this contact belongs to a business account”, the messaging app said in
a statement.

So, if you have a number saved in your address book which is a verified business, it will
appear with the name you saved it. However, if you don’t have the business’s name saved,
information the business wants to showcase would appear to you.

CONFESSIONS OF TTP’S MUFTI SHAKIR REVEAL DARK
UNDERBELLY OF MILITANCY IN KARACHI

KARACHI: Mohammad Shakirullah alias Mufti Shakir, who was arrested over charges of killing
policemen and carrying out the suicide attack on CID SP Chaudhry Aslam in 2014, was released
on bail and subsequently fled to Afghanistan and is now running an active training camp for
militants, it emerged on Wednesday.

During interrogation by a joint investigation team (JIT) inside the Karachi Central Prison in
March 2014, he had confessed to having killed, along with his accomplices, 10 policemen and an
army soldier.

The JIT report reviewed by Dawn revealed that he (Mufti Shakir) had once presented himself for
the suicide attack on SP Chaudhry Aslam but was prevented from doing so.

The report further said that Shakir had submitted fake documents in order to get bail.

NA-120 CAMPAIGN: 'ATTACKED WITH CONSPIRACIES DUE TO

CLOSENESS TO NAWAZ,' CLAIMS MARYAM
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz on Thursday claimed she was
"attacked with multiple conspiracies" during her father's time in public office due to her
"closeness to him".

Maryam, who was addressing a PML-N women workers' convention in Lahore as she campaigns
for the NA-120 by-poll in her mother's place, claimed that she "tolerated a lot being the daughter
and a close companion of Nawaz Sharif during the four years we spent in the prime minister
house."

"I was accused in Panama leaks [case] because I stood with Nawaz like a wall and confronted
every conspiracy," Maryam told the gathering. "I have no doubt about the fact that whenever
there is a crisis, the wives, sisters and mothers are at the fore."
Maryam said that the biggest difference she noticed between her father's campaign for the 2013
General Election and that for Begum Kulsoom's NA-120 campaign now was that all streets and
shops now had electricity, which was not the case four years ago.

"When the country was progressing so swiftly, when it was being taken out of darkness and into
light, when CPEC was bringing progress in the country, why was this progress hindered? Why
was the prime minister removed?" she asked.

Sharif's disqualification has increased his stature and people's love for him, she claimed, adding
that during public gatherings, "not a single chair was set up", but people still attended heavily.
