National Safety Day /Week brief –

As you are aware, the National Safety Day (NSD) Campaign spearheaded by the National Safety Council for
commemorating its foundation day - 4th March 2018 is entering its 47th year. The Campaign celebrated over a
week, has grown into a major national Occupational, Safety & Health (OSH) Campaign and is widely
celebrated by industry, trade unions, Govt. departments, regulatory agencies, NGOs, Construction Industry and
institutions with the active support of the Central & State Governments and the media.

The Campaign is aimed at renewing the commitment of employees and general public to work safely
throughout the year. The ultimate objective of the Campaign is to ensure integration of OSH/SAFETY in work
culture and life style

This Celebration is an acknowledgement for the effort of all employees, Contractors and all construction workers,
towards making every day, every hour and every minute safe.

The theme of the 47th National Safety Day/Week campaign is -

“REINFORCE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR AT THE WORKPLACE TO ACHIEVE SAFETY AND HEALTH GOAL”

PURPOSE OF THE MARVEL SAFETY DAY/ WEEK CELEBRATION

To highlights the importance of safety in all spheres of life so as to prevent mishaps and accident resulting out
of neglect or lack of awareness.

Safety Week has significantly contributed to reduction in the rate of construction accidents and created wide
spread safety awareness.

OBJECTIVE

 To create safety awareness among all employees and workers through safety activities/training and
information sharing through all media of communication.

 To devise & implement safety management system and revise it through regular reviews.

 To achieve HSE policy objectives by implementing the system through planned targets and milestones.

 To aim for continuous improvement in working environment at projects.

 Minimize construction accidents.

FIRE DEMONSTRATION

TOPIC COVERED - FIRE CHEMISTRY

CLASSIFICATION OF FIRE

 Class “A” - Solid Fire – (Wood, paper, cloth, trash & other ordinary materials.)

 Class “B” - Liquid Fire – (Gasoline, oil, paint and other flammable materials.)

 Class “C” - Gas Fire – (LPG, Acetylene Etc.)

 Class “D” - Metal - (Metals: Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Etc.)

 Electrical – Electrically started Fire, e.g. insulation cables, fuse box, breakers, transformers etc.

WORKING AT HEIGHT/FALL PROTECTION

This Training covers all employees as well as contract workers to follow guidelines, for all construction activities of
height work.

Working at height - Any Work at height or above the ground level, where there is a risk of a fall or liable to cause
personal injury or damage to property.

Topic Covered
Fall hazards. Floor openings, cut- out and shaft.
Source of fall. Housekeeping in work area.
Ways to prevent accident while working at height. Fall protection devices.
Scaffoldings/ staging. Working platform.
Dismantling of scaffold. PPE, s (Personal Protective Equipment’s)
