Domain F: Developing as a Professional Educator

Goals:
 Maintain a safe, inviting, positive, and healthy learning environment (through embracing
diversity, including cultural, special needs, learning styles).
 Stay current on new research with regards to new teaching strategies.
 Become fluent in conversational Mandarin and Spanish at the minimum.
 Hone classroom management skills, including best practices in addressing behavioral
issues.
 Establish a fun, but professional rapport with students and their families by truly getting
to know all students. (Helpful for more individual differentiation)

Professional Development Plan:

Instructional strategies and skills, including those which encompass classroom management, the
support of various modes of instruction for increasing diverse needs, the extensive use of
technology, and the ability to support non-native English speaking students are all areas that this
candidate would like to strengthen. While much of these aspects of teaching may come with
experience, enhancing skills directly through additional classes will be beneficial to a new
teacher such as myself.

As of March 2018, my teaching experience encompasses substitute teaching and student

teaching. While some have more experience, I have yet to work in my very own classroom. I
realize the development that I plan is dependent upon my reflection of my performance in what I
have accomplished. The professional development selected relate to more generic, but vital
skills involved with successfully educating students today.

The development plan will likely transform once I am better able to clinically exercise my skills
and knowledge within my own classroom. This is just one portion of my constant effort to
reflect on what worked, what failed, how I can better deal with a situation in the future, my
strengths, and my weaknesses. Every educator carries with them a similar goal of academic
success achieved for their students. It is important to remember that we are all at various stages
and one of the nest methods for growth is to learn from one another.
