First-Year Success Coach
Arizona State University

My name is Kiran Ruby Torres and I am writing this letter regarding a job as a first year success
coach. I am a Senior at Arizona State University working towards my bachelors of science in
Psychology and a minor in Family Human Development.

During my time at ASU I have been able to integrate myself and be part of many organizations at
campus. I am currently in the process of activating a club called Students interested in Healthcare
and Education in Peru (SHEP) to interest students in volunteering. Last October, Vive Peru, a
national non-profit organization, selected me to volunteer in Peru where, over the Christmas
break, I spent three weeks working with medical physicians by providing low-income rural
communities with much-needed medical examinations and organizing health campaigns. I work
hard towards what I believe in and along the way I motivate others to do so as well.

As background, I have taken several courses in bio-chemistry that require me to take statistics,
analytical tools for collecting data, and research methods. These courses require me to
synthesize complex ideas and translate them into every-day language so that the general public to
understand the implications of an experiment. Suffice it to say, my training would be immensely
beneficial to the different major’s students are studying.

Working at Old Navy has given me a foundation of customer service and great communication
skills as I interact with customers on a daily basis. I can listen to customers’ needs and assist
them in the best way possible. I can work well with others and would be a great benefit as a first
year success coach.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Kiran Ruby Torres
