Deliveroo works with self-employed riders in Australia because this offers the flexible
work that riders seek.

Ninety percent of riders in Australia are happy working with Deliveroo and further,
flexible work is the number one thing riders value about their relationship with
Deliveroo.

Those who are self-employed are able to contribute to superannuation in a way that
is suitable for them and we welcome the new companies coming into the Australian
market who will no doubt make contributions simpler for those in the gig-economy.

We need to end the trade-off between flexibility and security. Deliveroo wants to
ensure that riders retain the considerable freedoms that they enjoy as self-employed
workers, while welcoming the opportunity for riders to enjoy a greater level of
security.

The emergent public policy challenge is to ensure that employment law and benefit
entitlements fit with the new economic framework of the gig-economy in Australia.
