Classroom Rules

A friendly reminder:
Devices are only to be used when given
permission.
BYOT Class Rules

Level I Use

OFF: Device powered off!


Devices are not to be
used during this time.

Level II Use
VIBRATE: Device may be powered
on vibrate. Devices face
down unless teacher grants
permission to use.

Level III Use

Devices may be out


and powered on
for instructional use only.
BYOT Procedures
1. Bring your device (iPad, iPhone, or Android Phone) to school
each day. Device is only to be used by the student to whom it is
assigned to or belongs to.
2. Devices should be fully charged each night and kept in the
school case (issued iPad device).
3. Check classroom level of use each day.
4. The Level of Use will be listed on the board.
5. Should a student leave their device at home, they may sign
out an iPad device for that period only. Devices must be signed
in/out during each period. There will be 4 additional classroom
devices for checkout on a first come first serve basis.
6. Devices are to be used for school related activities that
support learning.
7. Students are not allowed to share their network password or
email with outside users.
8. Students will not view or transmit racist, sexist, pornographic,
obscene, or threatening material.
9. Students will not download any materials that are not directly
related to course work.
10. Email correspondence will be monitored.
11. Students may NOT upload or create viruses to destroy data
or hack into computers on the CHMS network. Doing so will
results in suspension of iPad/internet privileges .
12. Notify teacher or administrator if iPad is lost, stolen, or
damaged.
BYOT Care Procedures
1. Keep iPad screen clean by wiping with a soft clean cloth.
2. Do not decorated devices.
3. Only use camera when instructed to do so. Permission is
needed from the teacher to take photos/videos of peers.
4. DO NOT use camera in locker rooms or restrooms.
5. DO NOT store inappropriate videos/photos on device.
6. DO NOT install texting apps or social media apps on the iPad
(Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.).
7. Earbuds/headphones must be used at all times.
8. Do not expose iPad to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
9. Do not place the iPad in water or on wet surfaces.
10. Personal information is not allowed on the iPad. This includes
information of you or others.
11. Your iPad is school property. Please handle with care and
respect at all times.
BYOT Consequences
               Students will receive a mark/strike for rules broken:

1st Infraction - Warning

2nd Infraction - Verbal reminder

3rd Infraction - Verbal reminder

4th Infraction – Loss of use of electronic device for 3 days, 

Parent phone call.

5th Infraction – Loss of use of electronic device for 5 days

6th Infraction – Assigned ISS, Conference with Administrator.

7th Infraction - Loss of use of use of electronic device for 2 weeks

7th Infraction - Loss of use of electronic device for 6 weeks

8th Infraction - Loss of electronic device for the remainder

of the semester.

iPad use is a
PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT.
