Instructions: Your grade will be based on the degree to which your writing shows depth
of thought and quality of engagement. A minimum of 3 pages excluding the cover page is
the length requirement, but your work should be comprehensive. Write a response paper
to the salient points provided in each section addressing the prompts.

Conduct a research activity on the following aspects of the key organizational
characteristics of any ONE of the chosen Company or Organization that are serving the
Global Consumer Market. Write a response paper to the following salient points and
address the following prompts:
I. What are they trying to accomplish?
II. What changes can the management make that will result in improvement?
III. What are the indicators to know that a change is an improvement?
A. Define the process: its start, end, and what it does.
Instruction & B. Describe the process: list the key tasks performed and sequence of steps, people

Assignment Task C. Describe the players: external and internal customers and suppliers, and process
operators.
D. Define customer expectations: what the customer wants, when, and where, for
both external and internal customers.
E. Determine what historical data are available on process performance, or what data
need to be collected to better understand the process.
F. Describe the perceived problems associated with the process; for instance, failure
to meet customer expectations, excessive variation, long cycle times, and so on.
G. Identify the primary causes of the problems and their impacts on process
performance.
H. Develop potential changes or solutions to the process, and evaluate how these
changes or solutions will address the primary causes.

Write a response paper to the salient points discussed by the speaker, addressing the
following prompts:
1. How did the speaker explain the distinctions between the terms quality,
productivity?
2. How do productivity and quality affect profitability?
3. What tactical plans and short term goal attainment were used to improve
their product?
4. As expounded by the speaker, what is the role of leaders or managers in
the undertaking?
5. Drawing from your own experience, define “balance”, “sustainability” and
“productivity”. Give examples from your own life experiences.

Option B. Career Case Study


Find a professional in your personal network. He/she might be a business leader, teacher,
a mentor, or an entrepreneur you admire.
Interview him/her about how s/he has achieved balance, productivity and sustainability in
his/her career. Draw on your personal reflection also, addressing the following prompts:
1. What is the person or organization’s mission statement?
2. What are their main sources of revenue? What are their main costs of
operation? (What does their work require of them? Think in terms of both time
and money.)
3. Career arc. How did they get started? What steps did they take to grow? What
were the decision points in their career?
4. Evaluate your present circumstances against each of these three terms. Where
are you succeeding in each area? Where are you not succeeding?
5. Looking ahead, what are the areas you would like to work on in order to ensure
that your life is balanced, productive and sustainable?
