“THE CARBON CYCLE”

By

Divine U.
FADE IN:
LONG SHOT
We see a piece of blank lined paper that has a cloud drawn
in the middle where the title is written (The Carbon
Cycle).
Zooms into Mid-shot

A big pencil draws Adam on the lined paper. Afterwards,

Adam comes out of the lined paper. The Pencil points to
drawings on the paper that eventually come to life. [Camera
zooms in] A carbon atom is shown whilst arrows point to
description boxes representing what carbon is.

(There is a picnic table

Covered with a blanket, and
a fish in a bowl.
A Factory is positioned
on the left.)

Box: 1
Carbon is a pure element and in group four on the periodic
table.
Box: 2
Carbon can take shapes such as graphite, diamond and
fullerenes used in medicine.
Carbon is stored in many different forms in our body.

MID-SHOT

Such as GLUCOSE, an arrow points at Adam holding honey.

Keratin, we [pan up] to see Adam flicking his hair.
Cholesterol, Adam eats his food.

CAMERA CUTS
LONGSHOT

Adam stands openly next to a round shape representing the

world.

(We can only see Adam and

2
the world
being presented)

Box: 3

23% of humans are made of carbon and 15% of the earth is

made of carbon. (Pause) Carbon percentages have not changed
drastically, so where does all the carbon go? Plants are
crucial in the distribution of carbon.

Adam sits on an arrow which moves to Box 4.

Panning shot
Medium Shot

Pencil draws the sun, flower, water and soil which are
perfectly placed into the scene representing the
photosynthesis diagram.

(Objects pops up.

Arrows point to
The description boxes)

Box: 4
Energy from sunlight is used to drive the process which is
taken in by chloroplasts in the leaf.
Box: 5
Carbon Dioxide is absorbed from the air by the stomata.

(Scene flips round

As we explore
The underground)

Box: 6
And water and minerals like glucose are taken up from the
soil.

ZOOM IN ON PLANT’S LEAF

MID-SHOT 90 DEGREES

3
Box: 7
The roots absorb water and minerals, the stomata have
guard’s cells which controls what comes in (Carbon dioxide)
and what goes out (Oxygen).
CAMERA ZOOMS IN ON LEAF

Box: 8
Chloroplasts absorbs sunlight which is essential for
photosynthesis.
ZOOMS OUT TO EQUATION

Box: 9
Water + Carbon Dioxide =>
Glucose + Oxygen (sunlight)
PANNING SHOT

Box: 10
Glucose is used in respiration or converted into starch and
other food types.
ZOOM out

(arrows pointing
at food on the picnic table)

The wind blows making the watermelon roll of the table and
A lady bird lands on top of it[close-up].

MID-SHOT

A robin comes along and eats the ladybug [Mid-shot].

PANNING SHOT
MEDIUM SHOT

The bird flies away and poops into the fish’s bowl who eats
the waist of the robin and dies dramatically, Adam falls
backwards in shock, tipping the bowl in the river.

4
ZOOM INTO RIVER

The fish decomposes. [zooming out] We see the time go by

quickly, making Adam old.
Box: 11
Overtime the bones become fossils, this process takes
millions of years, or even more, depending on the size of
the animal. The fossils are extracted an taken to
factories.
Camera slightly pans to the right
We see a factory
Box: 12
Combustion = burning fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels are used for cars, electricity, factories etc.
Box: 13
After combustion, Carbon Dioxide is released into the
atmosphere and the ‘Carbon Cycle’ repeats again.
Establishing Shot

We see the whole scene which represents the carbon cycle’s

diagram (arrows will be used to represent the flow).
[Camera pans through the notes again to show the cycle]

FADE OUT:

THE END.
