SOFTWARE/HARDWARE INSTALLATION For MODEL 730,The Magnetic Levitation Apparatus With PCI bus Version of ECP DSP Board when installing in 64 bit version Windows 7 Please carry out the following steps to commission your new ECP PCI bus DSP Board Step 1- ECP Controls Executive Version 5.x Installation for PCI DSP Board: Ll Do not physically i 1.2- Make sure that your PC’s Version of Windows Operatin 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7. 3. Make sure that you log on your PC as “Windows Administrator User”. Insert the supplied ECP Executive Software Installation CD in the CD device of your computer. Locate the directory .mxxximxxx_cn\Disk| (xxx stands for the 3 digit ECP Model number) on the CD. Then “Run” SETUP.EXE (For Windows 7 you must RIGHT CLICK on SETUP.EXE and “Run AS Administrator”), Follow the installation dialog boxes. We strongly recommend that you do not modify the default path/direciory structure used by the installation program 1.4- This action must be followed by installing the ECP’s DSP 64-bit drivers. To do so, run the installation file ECP64bitDrivers.msi (For Windows 7 you must RIGHT CLICK on ECP64bitDrivers.msi and “Run AS Administrator”), 1.8- Once BOTH installations are done (both SETUP.EXE and ECP64bitDrivers.msi), you must “re-start” your Windows OS after the installation, Make sure that the Windows OS now has “ECP32.exe” the Windows Folder Program Files (x86\ECP Systems\en, 1.6 Donot run the ECP32.exe program yet. Since a new hardware has been installed, the Windows OS's Plug & Play feature should automatically detect the PCI DSP Board. This may take as long, as a minute after the initial installation. In some cases the automatic “New Hardware” detection may not take place and you would be prompted to give the path of the “PmacPCI.Sys” driver file to the Windows OS, After Step 1, depending on the Operating Systems, this file will be in the following folders by default: Cawindows\system32\drivers Now enter the “ECP32” program (procedure below is carried out only once after the initial program installation) 3.- Click on “Yes” to the Warning message “Coniroller not found. Would you like t0 setup communications 3.2. When the “PMAC Devices” message box appears, click on “Insert” when the message “PMAC 0 -PCI0- Plug and play” is highlighted, 33+ Click “OK” when the “Available PMAC Devices” message box shows “PMAC PCIO". Then enter any ECP Executive program and under the Utility Menu click on “Reset Controller”. The last step of resetting the DSP Board via “Reset Cont option under the Utility Menu MUST be carried out every time you cycle power to the Amplifier (black) Box. To TURN OFF power FIRST turn off the power to your Amplifier (black) Box and SECOND to your PC. Cable Conncetion to the Amplifier Box & Mechanism: Connect the other end of the 60- pin flat cable to the 60-pin Header at the back of the black Amplifier Box. Again, use both of your thumb fingers in order to make sure that the connection is firm and even (the 60-pin flat ‘cable must be fully inserted into the 60-pin male Header on the Amplifier Box with no pins bent). For the Model 730, also connect the 16-pin flat cable, Ifthe previously supplied gray cable ‘or cables between the ECP mechanism and the black Amplifier Box were disconnected, re connect the cables end make sure the black end connectors are FULLY TWISTED in for good connection, Power Supply Conneetion: Connect the supplied power cord to the Amplifier Box. Turn on the Amplifier Box using the black button on its front panel. This completes the software/hardware Installation. Next, read carefully the safety features (section 2.3 of ECP Model 730 Manual).
