    The Arab Republic of Egypt

    Background
    In Ancient Egypt, the rulers were the king and queen. The king was known as the
    Pharaoh. Their constitution was adopted in 1971. Egypt is divided into 26
    governorates, which is a state or small county.

    The President
    Abdel Fattah el-Sisi
    Fattah has been President since June 8th, 2014. This is his last year in term. His
    role is similar to the United States President. He overlooks laws and oversees
    Egypt’s Armed Forces.

    The Prime Minister


    The Prime Minister of Egypt is Sherif Ismail. He has been in office since
    September 19th, 2015. There is no term limit. He has a very similar role to the
    President. They often work hand in hand.
