Dear Mr. Employer,

As a recent high school graduate and prospective freshman at the University of Michigan, I
am looking forward to gaining work experience in a field in which I am passionate about.
For me, this field is medicine and working with people to benefit the community. Your job
opening seems to match my skill set and interests well.

Through my recent experiences, I have determined what exactly I would like to work
towards. I have worked with the same family in my hometown for the past three summers.
It involved taking care of, transporting and supervising four children aged six through
twelve. This position taught me responsibility, patience, and communication. Being
accountable for four others obligated me to develop time management through their
schedules and cope with their frequent unwillingness to comply. Throughout our three
years together, I became close with the family I worked for and was able to develop
personal relationships with each family member. In February of 2018, I shadowed a doctor
that specializes in wound care at Spectrum Health. Although I am unsure of exactly what
specialty I would like to work in, this job shadow showed me the relationship between
patient and doctor and the direct benefit it has on the community that I hope to achieve one
day. These two roles have validated my passion for interacting with and contributing to my
community through medicine.
