government of Sri Lanka is an urban planning project with an aim of creating a planned megalopolis
by year 2030. WRMPP will cover large portion the western province. WRMPP is a multifaceted
project including community infrastructure, improved transportation and traffic management systems,
industries and tourism development. Construction related activities in the WRMPP will create many
job opportunities especially in the civil engineering field.

WRMPP can be considered as a complex civil engineering activity. There are many sub disciplines
of civil engineering involved when implementing this project.

(a) Identify different sub disciplines of civil engineering involved in WRMPP with examples.

[10.0 Marks]

(b) Identify other fields of engineering needed for this project rather than civil engineering with
examples.
