In Germany too , construction and rental prices have increased significantly in recent years.

Due to the
lack of alternatives, more and more people are building houses - either as a home, or to let them later -
as expensive as possible - for rent. But a new trend is currently conquering the German real estate
market : hotels.

As reported by "Wirtschaftswoche", 85,000 new beds are to be added throughout Germany by 2020 .
That corresponds to eight percent of the capacity. This fits a statistic that has published the portal
"Statista" with reference to the current industry report on hotels and pensions . According to this, the
projected sales development in the hotel industry in Germany should rise to 36.6 billion euros by 2021.
In 2016, it was still at 29.3 billion.

Loser of the fast-moving hotel buildings

However, there are also losers in this rapid development: owner-managed, small pensions. According to
"Wirtschaftswoche" figures from the industry association Dehoga would prove that family businesses in
Germany close as new chain hostels open. Large chains therefore run out of rank for small
accommodations.
