The Department of Mathematics.

Departmental report for the 2nd Term of 2017/2018

The meeting was held on Monday the 12th of March at 11 am in the staff room. All
members of the department were present except Mr. Ngaba Cletus who was on
permission.
The main issue on the agenda was the annual syllabus coverage and the problems
faced in the department.
The annual percentage coverages as at the end of the term for Mathematics are
presented on the table below:

For the related subjects, the percentages were as follows:

Addtional Maths: Form 4 (Mr Bonglav) : 80%. Form 5 (Mr Ngaba) : 85%.
Maths Statistics : USA (Mr Ngaba) : 70%.
Maths Mechanics : USS (Mr Bonglav) : 90%.
Further Pure Mathematics : (Mr Ngaba) : 65%.
Further Mecahnics : USS (Mr Bonglav) : 85%.

Concerning problems faced by the department, the following issues were raised.
1) The lack of a graph board.
2) Students lack text books and work books.
3) Students are irregular in attendance and as such find it difficult to study the
subject smoothly.
4) Students of upper sixth and form 5 are lazy and are reluctant to procure
colletions of past GCE questions proposed by the teachers for general
revision.
The meeting ended at 11 :30 am, with the head of department thanking the
members of department and encouraging them to be duty conscious and to
accelerate the syllabus coverage so as to meet the targets at the end of the
academic year.
