Considerations:

 How is your video going to be designed? Narrated with pictures, live action,
combination
 How will your team communicate? Meetings, email - when, where, agendas
 Planning for notes, poster and video production
 Tools for research, script production, poster and video production
 Division of labour - who is expected to do what, when?
 Deadlines for work to be completed.
 Team leader? To whom do you report for team organization?

Final Evaluation will be the combination of all work completed and rubrics.
Substance Awareness Project
This term your team will create a video and a poster board to accompany the
video presentation. The video will be comprehensive. It will include all of the
information set out in the criteria. Your poster board will also include the
information in point-form with illustrations so your audience can get the
pertinent facts.
You will be using rubrics to help you create and evaluate you work throughout
this project.
Rubrics to be used:
 Project Marking Rubric
Your presentation will include some/all/or more of the following (that means that
these are suggestions to guide you in the right direction. You may add or remove
topics as necessary):
 Overall description of the drug category or service
 Detailed information about the drug category or service
 Explain the effects of substances:
o Physically - immediate, short term and long term
o Emotionally/mentally - user, family, friends and society
o Socially - the local and greater community (crime, policing, costs)
 Explain how the drug(s) are made and distributed
o How do they get from their place of origin to the users
o How do these drugs get to high school students?
 You will create a PSA for your topic
o 1 – 2 minutes long
o Informative
o Include locations or services to receive help
Your research and writing piece will be informational. You will write for your
video in a fashion that suits your group's chosen format (narrated, live action,
etc). Break your topic up into smaller pieces for members of your team.
Team members will each submit their writing pieces for:
 Self-editing
 Peer-editing
 Final copy
Your poster will be created using the Visual Display Rubric. You will submit one
version of your group evaluation prior to final product. You will submit the rubrics
to your teacher on:
