ENGLISH FESTIVAL
ACTIVITY DESIGN PROPOSAL
S.Y 2017-2018
I. Activity Title: School- Based English Festival 2017-2018

II. Rationale:

Based on the result of the Phil-IRI conducted by the reading coordinators and
English teachers for the past five (5) years we found out that there are students who
lack skills in reading, spelling and vocabulary, and ability to communicate effectively
with others using English as a language.

In its thrust to promote the love for reading and enhance the students’ language
skills, the English Department will conduct its English Festival on January 31, 2018. The
main focus of this festival is to come up with more creative ways of developing the love
for reading among our youth because this is an important portal to the world of learning.

This half-day festival will give all students the chance to participate in the
different events and appreciate the joy and love for reading. Furthermore, it will also
promote teamwork and unity among them.

III. Objectives:

The Festival is anchored on the following objectives:

1. Foster a reading culture among students and launch a search for the best team
readers from students.

2. Intensify Remedial Reading where teachers or class advisers assist and

encourage frustration level students to join the activities.

3. Promote maximum participation of students in all grade levels.
