Panchakarma is a specialised treatment of Ayurveda which is very much helpful

to treat and cure chronic diseases and to rejuvenate our body. We need a
specialised Ayurveda doctor, trained therapists, equipment, Ayurvedic massage
oil and other medicines etc. are the basic requirements of a Panchakarma
Centre

Requirements of a Panchakarma Centre

The requirements of a Panchakarma Centre could be summed up under following


points.

1. Ayurveda Doctor
2. Panchakarma Technician or Therapist
3. A receptionist
4. A cleaning staff/ sweeper
5. Panchakarma equipment
6. Ayurvedic medicines and massage oil
7. A therapy room with attached toilet
8. Accessories- Stove, Gas, Induction, Utensils, Bowls etc.
9. Capital investment (Infra, Interior etc)
10. Running Expenses (Working capital, consumables etc)

An Ayurveda Doctor

For any Ayurveda clinic and Panchakarma centre, the main pillar is a good
Ayurveda doctor. He must have a graduate degree (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine
& Surgery or BAMS) or post graduation in Ayurveda (MD or MS in Ayurveda). He
should be registered in Ayurveda board of any state from which he belongs to or
registered as Ayurveda practitioner from CCIM (Central Council of Indian Medicine).
He may have a certificate course/ diploma in Panchakarma or got extensive
training in Panchakarma from a reputed institution or hospital. For a centre, one
or more Ayurveda doctor may be recruited depending upon the infrastructure and
need.

Panchakarma Technician or Therapist

A person, who is well trained and successfully completed basic course in


Panchakarma therapy is recruited as Panchakarma Therapist. For a Panchakarma
centre, minimum 1 male and 1 female therapist are required.

A Receptionist or Front Desk Executive


An executive with good communication skill may be recruited to take care of all
the walk-in clients and patients. An executive or personal is also helpful in
attending telephonic enquiries and booking an appointment on the call.

A Cleaning Staff or Sweeper

A wellness centre should be hygienic and clean. After every therapy, the therapy
room should be clean. For this purpose, a regular staff should be recruited to
perform all the cleaning requirements.

Panchakarma Equipment

To perform various therapies and treatments, a set of some equipment is required.


Most of them are as follows:

1. Droni (Ayurvedic massage table)

2. Swedana Yantram (Steam chamber & Steam generator)


3. Shirodhara stand and Shirodhara vessel
4. Vasti Yantra (enema set) etc.

5. Awagaha Tub:
Made of heat resistant NPG fiberglass in full body size. Powder coated steel frame is
bonded to the tub which enables stability. Can be easily carried and placed anywhere.
size : 170cm x 76cm x 40 cm

6. Spine Bath with groove :


Made of NPG - Fiberglass material with reinforcement for edges and a spinal groove . size
: 101cm x 63cm x 20cm

7. Vasti Yanthram – Disposable set :


This is a kit with one Yanthram and 50 nos. nethrams of adult and paediatric sizes, all
made of high grade sterilizable and transparent plastic. 50 nos. vasti putak are provided to
enable different vasti volumes of 500 ml,1000ml and 1500ml.

8. Matra Vasti & Sneha vasti Syringe –


Stainless steel syringe with nylon head ( for Mathra vasti ) and Brass head (for Sneha
vasti ) with provision to use disposable plastic nethrams of adult and pediatric : sizes.
Capacity: 100ml and 250ml.

9. Kativasti Yanthram / Janu vasti Yanthram/ Greeva Vasti Yanthram :


These are made of light weight fiberglass material. Suitable for different body shapes by
using the multiple profiles

10. Agnikarma Shalaka:


Made of Panchaloha metals with wooden handle and sharp tipCasc

11. Shirovasti Cap :


This is an adjustable cap to suit all types of heads. Made of calf leather with an inner
lining of artificial leather. Size: 80cm x 19cm.

12. Vaman Peeth :


Consists of a chair and table . Made of Chrome plated cold rolled steel frame. Chair is
designed to be stable in Vamanam position, SS collection tub, measuring jar, towel bar, leg
support and castor wheel for table are provided.

13. Virechan peeth :


Made of chrome plated cold rolled steel frame. Teakwood back rest , Fiberglass seat in
wood design and stainless steel collection vessel are provided

14. Panchakarma Accessories - Full set: :


This consists o 22 different products like Thannikinnam , Dhara kindi with handle , lotta,
Oil bowl with handle, Varpu ( polished ) , Uruli, Nasya Yanthram, Mortar and Pestle,
Vanai, Chattukam etc. Most of these are hand casted in traditional white bronze metal

15. Soft Bed for Dhroni / Massage Table :


This is shaped to fit in the body area of Dhroni and is made of good quality artificial
leather and foam material

16. Steps for Massage table / Dhroni :


This is a 2 steps ladder made of powder coated steel with rubber or plastic caps for
legs.
Size: 45 cm x 40cm x 40cm.
Ayurvedic medicines and massage oil

For all types of Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapies, Ayurvedic medicines or oils are
required. These are chosen by the Ayurveda doctor depending upon the condition of the
patient and then prescribed accordingly.

A therapy room with attached toilet

For a start, a room of minimum 12 x 15 ft size with attached toilet is a must for an
Ayurveda Panchakarma & Wellness Centre. This room is used to give therapies to patients.
2 or more therapy rooms may also be set depending upon your investment capacity
Accessories - Stove, Gas, Induction, Bowls etc.

Some of the accessories like an arrangement of cooking gas or induction to heat oil,
prepare the decoction, frying leaves or powder is required. Also, some of the cooking
bowls, frying pan, spoon are other kitchen items which should be arranged as and when
needed.

Capital investment

1. Equipment and training (2 Lacs to 5 lacs)


2. Interior / Infrastructure ( 8 Lacs to 10 Lacs)
3. Working Capital for 4 to 6 months

1. Salary to the staff (90,000 to 1, 20,000)
