DAY ONE  
8:00A  Display booths [Drake Center lobby] – Various campus offices will staff displays providing information about their services. 
9:30A  Opening session [Thurber Theatre, Drake Center] – Orientation begins with an introduction to the first year experience and 
details about the Orientation program. 
10:45A  Orientation Leader (OL) small groups [departing from  College Transitions: Family Matters [Thurber Theater, Drake 
Opening Session] – Activities include interactions with new  Center] – Members of the university community talk about 
students and OLs, lunch at Woody’s (remember to bring your  the transition to college, academic support services, and

Until 4:30P  Student Service Center [Student Academic Services Building] – Visit the SSC to get help with financial‐related questions or 
  concerns, including financial aid.  The SSC is also open 9:00A‐4:00P on Day Two. 
Until 5:30P  Foreign language placement test – For students needing to complete placement testing in French, German, Italian, or

  Young Scholars.  Learn about the office that coordinates your ODI scholarship funding.  Interact and network with fellow 
  scholars. 
Until 6:00P   WiredOut [Enarson Classrooms Building] – Have questions about buying a computer or other technology purchases? Stop in 
  and visit the staff at WiredOut, the Tech Store @ Ohio State.   
Until 6:15P  Dinner [Union Market or Woody’s, Ohio Union] – Meal blocks (distributed at check‐in), cash, or credit card accepted. Dining 
  solo? Dine with other orientation students and Orientation Leaders at the Union Market for a group meal after grabbing your 
food.   
6:15P  Get Involved session [Conference Theatre, Ohio Union] – Family reception [Woody’s, Ohio Union] – Come for a casual

students receiving the Young Scholars Scholarship are required to attend this session

and their parents.  This session will offer tips for finding an on‐campus job that will help pay the bills, while showcasing 
how campus employment can contribute to career preparation and skill building.  
o OSU 101: Life as a Buckeye [035 Hitchcock Hall] – Learn the traditions of Ohio State and find out about the many 
exciting things that happen on campus throughout the year in this fun and interactive presentation. This is a great 
session for both students and families to learn about what it means to be a Buckeye! 
o Sorority and Fraternity Life [030 Hitchcock Hall] – Composed of 62 sororities and fraternities, Ohio State’s Greek life 
provides students with opportunities to become leaders, serve their communities, and make lifelong friendships. Come 
to this session and learn more! 
o Student Health Insurance [190 Knowlton Hall] – Receive tips on how to prepare your student to use their health 
insurance while attending school.  This session will also provide an overview of the WilceCare supplement and an 
opportunity to ask questions regarding Ohio State’s health insurance requirement and selection/waiver process. 
o THRIVE@OSU [031 Hitchcock Hall] – College is an exciting time for students and their loved ones.  It is marked by 
personal growth, swift transition, and inevitable challenge.  Counseling & Consultation Service supports students in 
navigating difficulties encountered along the way.  This workshop is designed to provide strategies to help students 
thrive at OSU and beyond. 
o Undergraduate Research Office (URO) [250 Knowlton Hall] – Families will discover how undergraduate research 
enhances the academic experience at Ohio State.  Learn why and how students can get involved in research on campus, 
and where to find resources.  Hear a personal account from a current undergraduate researcher.

  o Study abroad/passport information [Oxley Hall] – Drop in and learn more about why Ohio State President E. Gordon 
  Gee calls passports, “the driver’s licenses of the 21st century.” Families will discover why studying abroad has become a 
  critical component of higher education, and how students can get started in choosing a program that’s right for them.   
o Walter E. Dennis Learning Center [250 Younkin Success Center] – Did you know that 52% of college students suffer a 
 
reduced quality of life because of procrastination?  The Dennis Learning Center offers courses, workshops, and one‐on‐
 
one appointments to develop strategies that lead to success in college.  Discover why students who take advantage of 
 
the Center’s services attain not only high GPAs but also higher retention and graduation rates. 
 
    o WiredOut [031 Hitchcock Hall] ‐ Join the Ohio State tech store, WiredOut, for an informational session to help make 
  computer choices easier for new Buckeyes. 
  o Fisher International Programs Office [Schoenbaum Hall] – This session shares resources available for Fisher students to 
  help them develop their understanding of the global business environment.  A brief presentation describing short term 
  study abroad opportunities, international internships and semester exchange partners will be followed by information 
about scholarships. 
11:15A‐2:30P Ongoing afternoon opportunities  
o Barnes & Noble [Enarson Classrooms Building or South Campus Gateway locations] – Visit either university bookstore location to pick 
up your copy of the Buckeye Book Community book. While you’re there, you may choose to reserve your textbooks for the fall! 
o BuckID [3040 Ohio Union] – You must have government‐issued photo identification (driver’s license, military ID, passport, etc.) and a 
Student Information Profile to receive a university ID card. 
o Faculty Club – Located on the Oval, the Faculty Club offers a unique setting for families to treat their students to lunch, dinner, or over 
50 special events throughout the year! Family memberships are $130/year. The club invites you to stop by during orientation to give us 
a try.  A complimentary lunch is available for anyone purchasing a membership at orientation (lunch hours are from 11:00A‐2:00P). 
o Huntington Bank (Shops at Tuttle Park Place Garage) – Interested students can sign up for a bank account with Huntington, Ohio 
State’s official banking partner.  Students can also link their BuckID to their checking account at this Huntington branch location. 
o Student Health Services questions and vaccinations [Wilce Student Health Center] – Stop by if you have questions about Student 
Health Services, special health concerns, or recommended immunizations. Some vaccines, including the Tdap 
(tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis) and meningitis vaccinations, are available on a walk‐in basis during orientation (estimated cost for the 
Tdap is $75 and the meningitis vaccine is $161; estimated time is 45 minutes). 
o Student Service Center [first floor, Student Academic Services Building] – Meet with a representative from the Student Service Center 
to ask questions about your statement of account, financial aid, registrar, and bursar services. 
o Younkin Success Center self‐guided tour [second floor, Younkin Success Center] – Walk through a facility designed to help students 
succeed at Ohio State.
