COMPUTER HARDWARE SERVICING-ICT 7

Lesson Plan

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of one-hour lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Define the usage of tools for repairing computers;
2. Innumerate the types of hand tools.
3. Identify the different types of hand tools used in computer hardware servicing
4. Value the importance of following safety precaution while working.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic: Hand tools in computer Hardware Servicing
Code: TLE_ICTCC7/8UT-0a-1
References: Computer Hardware Servicing pp.26-32

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of the Attendance
4. Unlocking of Difficulties
What are the meanings of the following?
a. ESD (Electrostatic discharge)- is the sudden flow of electricity
between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, an
electrical short, or dielectric breakdown. A buildup of static
electricity can be caused by turbo charging or by electrostatic
induction.
b. Torx- developed in 1967 by Camcar Textron, is the trademark for a
type of screw head characterized by a 6-point star-shaped pattern.
A popular generic name for the drive is star, as in star screwdriver or
star bits
c. Lint free cloth- is a special type of cleaning cloth that does not give
up any fluff when used. Being free of lint means the cloth is less
likely to build up a charge. Which can caused ESD; damaging
electronic equipment like HD television, computer monitors and
digital cameras.
5. Motivation:
Show pictures of tools and ask the student if they want to know how it
works. Use Picture equation to reveal the topic for the day.
B. Developmental Activities:
1. Activity:
a. Provide pre-test for basic hand tools
b. Student will list down the types of Hand tools according to the
usage.
Preliminary Activity: Pre-Test

Direction: Select the letter of the correct answer. Write your answers on a separate
sheet of paper.

2. Analysis
 What will happen if we use improper hand tools?
 What could be possible output if we used proper hand tools?

3. Abstraction
Ask the following question:
1) What have you learned from our topic?
2) Why do we need to identify the purpose of the basic usage of
the hand tools? What could be the problem that will occur, if
we used improper hand tools?
3) 4 Categories of hardware tools:
 Electo-Static Discharge (ESD) tools
 Hand tools
 Cleaning Tools
 Diagnostic Tools

4. Application
 Identify the basic hand tools and provide the purpose in using the
tools?

IV. EVALUATION:
Task 1: Clean it up!!
Direction: Complete the computer cleaning chart shown below. Indicate the
appropriate tools to be used in cleaning the different computer components.
