‘The Department of Public Safety Licensing Directorate has embarked on @ project to improve its services anc
customer experience atthe ity operated licensing contre.
These efforts include the extension of operating hours to include Saturday. This means that customers can now
visit mast ofthe City operated licensing centres on Saturdays between OShOOam to 12h00pm forthe renewal of
‘ring becenses, vehicle dise licenses, regster motor vehicles, book deverfeamer tests and other relevant
Extending business hous at the licensing centres will hopefully ee the reduction cf long queues, backlogs and
improve turn-around times in these centres.
MIC for Public Safety, Clr Michael Sun says “We have received numerous senicereleted complaints at our
licensing centres and its high time that we improve services tothe level that our customers deserve. The high
volumes of customers wsting our iensing centres means that we need to be mnovaive ond upgrade our centres,
we want our customers to get a corporat service as paying customers would expect anyuhere els.
(On Saturday, 24 March 2018, Midrand licensing officials embarked on an Outresch Campaign to interact with
members of the pubic, taxi associations and business owners araund Midrand. The sim was to promote the
tetended operational hours, ensure thatthe public is well informed about such intiatves and to listen to
fuggestions to improve sence standards. About 1500 information brochures were setobuted during the
campaign, and the Midrand licensing centre expects a positive turnout of customer in the coming Saturdays.
