Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am pleased to announce that Connect is continuing to be implemented in our school. Connect is an

integrated online environment developed by the Department of Education WA for staff, students and

How will parents access Connect?

Each parent who does not already have one, will be emailed their own secure login to Connect during
Week 1 of Term 2 2018. Connect is totally free and, because it is provided by the Department of
Education, very safe. As well as being able to login to Connect on any internet-enabled device, you
may also receive notices from Connect that will be sent to you as either an email or a notification on
your phone. A free app called Connect Now can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App
Store and will let you receive Connect notices as push notifications.

If you have multiple children you only need one login – even if your children attend different public
schools. When you login to Connect you will be able to see information specific to your own child/ren
such as
 The School Space where you can be notified about school information and events
 The classes in which your children are engaged
 Class calendars
 Week by week attendance information
 Assessment Outlines information drawn from Reporting to Parents – Available in the
future
 Assessments and evidence for your own child (If submitted electronically)
 Notices from your child’s classes automatically generate an email or phone
notification to you.

To access Connect, you will receive an email with your login details by the end of Week 1 of Term 2
2018. If you do not receive your login details by this time, please call the school (08 9143 8100) to
update your email address. Alternatively, if you have a Connect login already and have forgotten it,
please contact the school to discuss also. A copy of the “Connect – Terms of Use” is available on the
Connect website and also on the following page.

If after reading about Connect and you have any concerns, prefer a different contact email to be used,
or do not wish to be contacted in regards to Connect, please contact the school to discuss.

We hope that you enjoy the Connect experience and see it as an exciting new way for you to stay in
touch with your child’s school journey.

Connect - Terms of Use

Connect exists so that WA public teachers, students and parents engage and communicate with each
other in a stimulating and interactive virtual space.

The appropriate use of Connect is dictated by existing Department Policies and Guidelines, including
Student Online Policy;
Telecommunications Use Policy;
Copyright for Schools; and
Code of Conduct

By continuing to use Connect you are indicating that you have read and will comply with the terms of
use as outlined in these Policies. This means you will not:
 Post offensive, indecent or inflammatory content;
 Use Connect for any purpose other than non-commercial educational purposes;
 Impinge on others' safety or privacy;
 Upload or share content or materials without permission of the author/s;
 Share or use the Department's online resources for purposes other than the education of
students.

The information shared in Connect is not necessarily representative of the Department of Education,
nor does the Department provide any assurance as to its accuracy. Furthermore, at its discretion, the
Department may remove any materials it deems inappropriate.

The Department reserves the right to change these Terms of Use at any time.
