Project Fellows, Communication Specialist and Project Interns
For the Project
‘Development of Landscape Management Plan and
Monitoring with reference to Ken-Betwa River Link Project
in Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh’
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier autonomous Institute under the Ministry of
Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of teaching, training
and research. The WII wishes to engage following posts for the project ‘Development of
Landscape Management Plan and Monitoring with reference to Ken-Betwa River Link
Project in Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh’.

Essential Qualifications (EQ) Ph.D. Degree in Wildlife Science/Life Sciences/ Geo-


informatics/ Fisheries/ Environmental Sciences/ Social
Sciences/ Economics, from a recognized university.

Desirable Qualifications (DQ) Experience/Expertise in the area of land-cover modeling


and spatial statistics, landscape analyses and preparation of
management plan, stream ecology and flow assessment,
stake-holder analyses and consultations, socio-economic
analyses, project coordination meetings/workshops and
reporting.

Scope of Work (1) Biologist/Sociologist to coordinate and implement field


data collection, synthesis, field reporting, and stakeholders
consultation, and (2) Landscape Ecologist/GIS Specialist to
manage spatial database and provide regular technical
support for project execution, writing of periodic reports and
development of landscape management plan.

Duration One Year likely to be extended for Two Years

Essential Qualifications (EQ) Ph.D. Degree in Wildlife Science/ Forestry/ Life Sciences/
Social Sciences/ Economics from a recognized university and
10 years of experience in ecological/sociological assessment;
or superannuated forest officer with forest/ wildlife
management planning experiences/ community engagement.

Desirable Qualifications (DQ) Experience/expertise in terrestrial biodiversity assessment,


aquatic biodiversity assessment, stakeholder consultation and
management, human-wildlife interface issues, planning protect
areas and conservation/community reserves, and policy
formulations.

Scope of Work Specialist inputs in (1) designing of landscape management


plan, stakeholder consultations, legislative considerations, (2)
socio-economic projections, ecosystem services, (3) Multi-taxa
assessment and spatial prioritization and (4) stream ecology
and water resource management.

Duration 06 Months

Age No age limit


Preference will be given to the candidates who have
experience in the landscape or in the specific subject
areas.

university.

Desirable Qualifications (DQ) Domain knowledge and one-year field experience in movement
ecology of large carnivores, vulture and crocodiles and
assessment of diversity/richness of flora, avifauna and insects.
Hands-on experiences in Occupancy sampling; Camera
trapping; Distance sampling; Vegetation quantification; Remote
Sensing and GIS tools; Radio-telemetry; sampling in
aquatic/steam system.
Domain knowledge and one-year experience in Socio-economic
survey for participatory management, ecosystem services and
economic evaluation.

Scope of Work Investigation on movement ecology of (1) tiger including
landscape analyses to map corridors, satellite cores and
connectivity modeling (involving 20 VHF/GPS collared tiger);(2)
biology of vultures including breeding and movement patterns,
and habitat/nesting suitability modeling in the landscape
(involving 40 GPS/satellite tagged vultures); multi-taxa survey of
richness and abundance of (3) plants, (4) birds and (5)
mammals; (6) assessment of river flow and related biodiversity
values; (7) landscape/riverscape characterization looking into
landscape, class and patch metrics, vulnerability and spatial
prioritization; (8) socio-economic survey of the people, and
assessment of ecosystem service and forest-people interface.

Essential Qualifications (EQ) Masters’ Degree in Visual Communication/ Mass


Communication/ Geography/ Arts/ Civil Engineering/
Bioinformatics/ Geo-informatics/from a recognized university.

Desirable Qualifications (DQ) One-year experience in data processing and documentation,


development of communication tools, cartography, 2D/3D
visualization of field data, science communication and citizen
science.

Scope of Work Develop and manage communication tools, and support the
field and office team in data visualization, photo/video graphic
documentation, communication and in report preparation.

Duration One Year likely to be extended for Two Years

Essential Qualifications (EQ) Graduate Degree in Life Science/ Botany/Zoology/Forestry/

Social Sciences/ Statistics/ Commerce/ from a recognized
university.

Desirable Qualifications (DQ) Experience/interest in field sampling of terrestrial and aquatic


system, and sociological attributes, telemetry, spatial analysis
and stakeholder consultations/workshops

Scope of Work Support the Project Scientists and Project Fellows in


executing field sampling of terrestrial and aquatic system,
and sociological attributes, telemetry, spatial analysis and
stakeholder consultations/workshops.

Duration One Year likely to be extended for Two Years

Age 28 years

Location of Project Site: Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh and the Landscape Area in
Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh

SELECTION PROCESS

applicants have to save form with filename as same as applicant name. i.e. if applicant
name is RAKESH KUMAR then file name will be RAKESH KUMAR.pdf.

2. Duly filled application in the prescribed pdf format to send on or before 30thApril 2018 by
email to levl@wii.gov.in. cc to nocp@wii.gov.in with SUBJECT as Post Code. i.e. if
applicant is applying for Project Scientists (PTR101) then he/she has to mention
PTR101 in Subject line of email. Application NOT in the prescribed format will be
rejected.

3. Applicants have to send this form with same email address which they have provided at
the time of application form.

4. Passport size photograph (less than 500kb, Jpg format) needs to be send with
application form.

5. A multiple-choice (General Awareness, Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecology) and essay
written examination (current environmental issues) of one-hour duration for all the
positions except Subject Matter Specialists and Project Interns will be conducted at
Dehradun on 14th May 2018. The candidates should report at 09:30hrs with original
application form along with relevant documents.

6. An expert panel consisting of internal and external members would interview the short-
listed candidates on 15th May 2018 (for Project Fellows and Communication Specialist)
and 16th May 2018 (for Project Scientists) from 10:00 hrs onwards.

7. Based on combined merit (academic relevance and accomplishments, experience,


written examination and interview), the candidates will be selected. The Subject Matter
Specialists and Project Interns will be selected based on performance in interview only.

8. The interviews for the position of Subject Matter Specialists and Project Interns maybe
conducted through Skype, based on pre-arrangement.

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Applicants should be accompanied by self attested copies of educational qualifications,


research experience, along with certificate of extracurricular activities, date of birth,
consolidated mark sheets, community certificate, etc. for each post and with their original
documents at the time of written test.

2. At the time of the verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has
been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, the
candidature of such applicant will not be considered and he/she will not be allowed to
appear for the written Test.

3. The Subject Matter Specialist may be required to work at (a) field locations, (b) Wildlife
Institute of India, Dehradun and (c) home-based depending on work requirements, which
would be communicated by the project authorities.

4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written examination and interview.

5. Age relaxation will be considered as per the Govt. of India norms for the reserved
category and women candidates except Project Interns.

6. The Director WII, reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete
information provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.
