USHER'S DAY

MUSIC & WORSHIP RESOURCES

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Tony McNeill, Guest Lectionary Liturgist

Minister of Music & Arts, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC

1. Invocation or Litany

“Always Room for One More.” (Based on the Spiritual “Plenty Good Room”)

One: There’s always room in God’s house for one more.

Many: There’s plenty good room!
Plenty good room!
Plenty good room in God’s House!
One: This place where we gather is filled with good things: companionship and familiarity;
warmth and security; support and encouragement. We’ve come to claim our seat in
God’s House of Prayer.
Many: There’s plenty good room! Plenty good room! Plenty good room in God’s House!
One: We have entered into these doors. Our host, Jesus Christ, has called us to this house of
prayer name by name. Evil is not welcomed here. Let those who are sad come and
claim their joy! Let those who are scared come and claim their boldness! Let those

who are frustrated come and claim their calmness.
ALL: There’s plenty good room. Plenty good room!
Plenty good room in God’s House!
We gather to talk to God and to each other.
We will sing praises to God’s holy name.
We claim our rightful place in this House of Prayer.
