Superstition and the forms of it

Superstition is the belief in the effectiveness of supernatural forces in certain people and
things. There exist many forms of it:
 Friday 13th :
This day is classified as a fatal day.
 Cats:
Black cats are classified as bearer of bad luck, coloured cats are classified as bearer of
luck. A black cat which crosses one´s path brings bad luck.
 Ladder:
Going under a ladder brings bad luck.
 Porcelain:
Porcelain shards bring luck.
 Mirrors:
It brings bad luck for seven years to look into a broken mirror.
 Salt:
The tipping of salt brings bad luck.
 Four-Leaf Clover:
It brings luck to find a four-leaf clover.
 Pig:
The pig is a symbol of luck.
 Chimney Sweeper:
It brings luck to meet a chimney sweeper.
 Horseshoe:
It has to have seven holes and it has to be used, the opening has to be on the top.
Then it brings luck.
 Ladybug:
It brings luck to see a ladybug.
 Rainbow:
It brings luck to see a rainbow.
 Shooting Star:
If a person sees a shooting star, he or she can wish something. The wish comes true if
the person says nothing about his or her wish.
