Give your child a jump-start for Algebra 2 this fall…
This Boot Camp will help students get back into algebra shape after doing geometry for a year. The goal is for students to gain confidence and transition easily from Geometry to Algebra 2. Topics covered include linear equations, factoring, algebraic expressions, irrational numbers, law of exponents, and more.
Why not get ahead of the game before class even starts!!!!!!

My name is Lisa Dean. I live in downtown Brighton and have two daughters; one graduated from Brighton High School in 2017, and one is a junior at BHS. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science; and earned a Masters from Eastern Michigan University in Curriculum Development. I have been
teaching since 1992 for Farmington Public Schools, specializing in Honors Algebra 2, Intermediate Algebra 2, Algebra 1, and Honors Geometry. I retired from teaching in December of 2017, but still love teaching and currently tutor several local students in SAT prep, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Algebra 1.
What: The Algebra 2 Boot Camp (A2BC) is a series of summer math workshops designed to review and reinforce critical concepts and skills necessary for success in Algebra 2. It will help students solidify their knowledge and skills to help them transition back into algebra after tackling geometry.
Why: Students need a strong foundation in Algebra 1 in order for them to be successful in Algebra 2. Not only do students struggle with Algebra 1, but they also take Geometry before taking Algebra 2. This results in a long period of time students are not using most of the Algebra 1 skills they learned. Reviewing these concepts will help them become more successful in Algebra 2.
Who: Students entering Algebra 2 for the upcoming school year.
How: Students will meet 1 hour and 15 minutes, for 8 sessions. As the instructor, I will build upon their knowledge of Algebra 1, reviewing topics that reflect some of the common errors made in Algebra 2.
Where: Studio West, 111 S. Street, Brighton (behind “The Pound” in downtown Brighton)
Attendance: If a student misses a workshop, they will still receive the worksheets containing the information that we reviewed/covered during their absence. Each workshop is independent from the next so they will not be behind upon their return.
What to Bring: Pencil, Spiral Notebook, Calculator (preferable a trig calculator – graphing calculator is even better). A trig calculator has the TAN, COS, SIN buttons on it. When: • There are 2 time slots to choose from (1st come, 1st serve basis): o 9:00am – 10:15am o 10:30am – 11:45am. • 25 students per time-slot • Dates were chosen to prevent having a session during the July 4th holiday, and to accommodate several students that are in fall sports/activities, which begin Aug 6 for football and Aug 8 for the rest of the fall sports/activities. • Dates: o Wed-June 20 o Wed-June 27 o Wed-July 11 o Wed-July 18 o Tue-July 24 o Thurs-July 26 o Tue-July 31 o Thurs-Aug 2
Cost: $200/student
Refund Policy: • 100% refund: thru May 30 • 50% refund: May 31 – June 6 • Non-Refundable: after June 6
Payment Method: Once I receive your registration, I will email confirmation of a seat reserved for your child based on availability. You will then receive an email from PayPal that includes a link for making the payment directly from your bank account or a credit card. Your spot is only guaranteed once payment has been received.
