the department
Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering
(MSME) was established in year 2009, with the vision to translate
the fundamental understanding of materials into sustainable and
environmental friendly technologies and products for the social
benefits. The research philosophy of the department is imbibed
in “Atoms to Applications”, thus the researchers get opportunity
to develop deep understanding of all major aspects, including
composition, structure, processing, characterization and
properties of metals, materials, ceramics, polymers and
composites. Department is deeply involved in various domains,
namely, structural materials, functional materials,
nanotechnology, biomaterials, energy materials and
computational materials science. With a goal of achieving
excellence in education and research, the research infrastructure
has been strengthened with the most sophisticated state-of-art
equipment, which makes the department of MSME, second to
none in the country. B.Tech., M.Tech. and PhD. degrees are
offered where Course curriculums are uniquely designed, to
meet the demand of industries as well as R&D. Department
believes in the holistic development of student, leading to a good
human being, to serve the nation and society.
