1. What job design options might help Bill reduce turnover among the employee?

Job design for motivation can reduce turnover among employee. It is because in the job
design for motivation have job enlargement, job enrichment, teamwork and flexibility that
can increase motivation every employee while other job design more relate to safety and
health, mental capability and efficiency. Bill company face to turnover problem because of
this company always pay attention to their customer about the service. The service that this
company provide very well but the pay of service is cheaper. It is because this company
afraid to lose their customer when the company increase the pay for service. After that, the
company also ignore the employee and do not give some reward to employee when they
are doing the work very well. In the job design for motivation have include job design that
can help Bill company to reduce turnover. The job design that can help Bill company to
reduce turnover are job enlargement and job enrichment. In the job design for motivation
explain about five characteristic of job that can increase job motivation of the employee
(Barry et al., 2016). The characteristic that relate to job motivation is skill variety. Skill
variety explain about the employee should go to others department for learn something
new. This characteristic relate to job enlargement. This is because job enlargement refers
to broadening type of task. So that, when using this design of job every employee that work
on Bill company can get new knowledge. The way to get a new knowledge when doing a
job rotation. When some employee do the job rotation and they involve a new department
every week and they also can get new knowledge or skills that can help other department
when other department do not enough employee because of leave. Because of that,
employee become happy when get new knowledge. Other characteristic of job that can
increase motivation are task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback. Task
identity explain employee involve to their task from early to end. The employee not take a
task after other employee doing half of the task. Task identity can give satisfaction to
employee because of their doing a task from early and end, when their faced to the problem
and how they solve the problem. Task significance is the job give important impact on the
life of other people. When employee from Bill company do a task very well and the
customer happy because of what their want is achieve so the employee become proud
himself and they will doing a task better from that. So that, their satisfaction to do task is
increase. Autonomy explain about the employee can make a decision about their task. So
that, do not have pressure include this situation because of the employee can manage their
time properly. Feedback also can increase satisfaction of employee. It is because if
employee get a feedback from others about their task, the employee can fix the task to
increase their performance. Besides, job enrichment also can reduce turnover among
employee. Job enrichment explain about the worker has empowering to make a decision
making about their job. According to Herzberg’s have two factor theory that increase the
motivation of employee, that is intrinsic aspect of work like meaningful of task and
extrinsic reward such as pay (Herzberg’s, 1959). From of these factor theory we can
conclude, when employee get task meaningful and get extra pay it can increase motivation
of someone. To reduce turnover Bill company should give recognition to their employee.
So that, after give recognition to their employee, the employee become proud of himself
then increase the performance.
