Bleomycin

Usual Diluents

NS.

 Note : Bleomycin for injection, USP should not be reconstituted or diluted

with 5% dextrose injection or other dextrose containing diluents. When
reconstituted in 5% dextrose injection and analyzed by HPLC, bleomycin for
injection, USP demonstrates a loss of A2 and B2 potency that does not occur
when bleomycin for injection, USP is reconstituted in 0.9% sodium chloride
injection, USP.

Standard Dilution [Amount of drug] [Infusion volume] [Infusion rate]

I.V. doses should be administered slowly over 10 minutes.

Reconstitution

Hazardous agent; use appropriate precautions for handling and disposal (NIOSH,
2012). For I.V. use, reconstitute 15-unit vial with 5 mL with NS and the 30-unit vial
with 10 mL NS; for I.M. or SubQ use, reconstitute 15-unit vial with 1-5 mL of SWFI,
BWFI, or NS and the 30-unit vial with 2-10 mL of SWFI, BWFI, or NS. For
intrapleural use, mix in 50-100 mL of NS.

Stability / Miscellaneous

 Refrigerate intact vials of powder. Intact vials are stable for up to 4 weeks at
room temperature. Solutions reconstituted in NS are stable for up to 28 days
refrigerated and 14 days at room temperature; however, the manufacturer
recommends stability of 24 hours in NS at room temperature.
