Time Learning Task Methods or Procedures

4 min Review character lists While I go around checking in the
homework, which was a character list,
students will have the time to review
what they wrote with their peers
10 min Class discussion of characters I will project the character list on the
board and will go through the
descriptions that students have written
for each character
10 min Subject/verb identification I will present a mini-lesson about how
to determine the subject and verb in a
sentence. I will be asking for responses
from students before I show certain
parts of the lesson that would give the
answers to assess student
understanding and/or prior knowledge.
10 min S/V identification practice Students will pick out 5 sentences from
their work on their journals so far and
will write them on a sheet of paper.
They will then determine where the
subject and verb are in the sentences
that they have chosen and will write
those down.
3 min Persuasive entry example I will pass out my example of a
persuasive entry to students and will
give them a few minutes to read the
entry and ask me any questions that
they have.
25 min Work time Students will use the remaining time to
work on their journal entries. Their
homework will be to complete the final
two pages of their review packet.
