1. What is the topic and what do you hope to discover/confirm?

The topic I am pursuing is to analyze previous studies and data conducted by researchers

on Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults and other related autoimmune diseases. I am aiming

to discover information about the causes of autoimmune diseases and why LADA progresses

slowly in contrast with Type 1 Diabetes. Additionally, I aim to analyze the efficacy of the

diagnostic methods introduced by analyzing the relationships of antibodies and diabetes

positivity.

2. What method of data collection do you intend to use and why?

I intend to analyze previous studies and data collected by researchers. The reason for this

is because experimenting is a very complex process that requires the use of labs and heavy

funding. Additionally, surveys are ineffective as the diagnosis of LADA is more focused on the

pathophysiology of the disease. Analyzing data will reveal statistical information on the

diagnosis of LADA and further support or disprove the research presented.

3 What vetted survey’s are you using ? How are you using them? Include citations

Identification of Autoantibody-Negative Autoimmune Type 2 Diabetic Patients. Diabetes
Care, 34(1), 168–173. http://doi.org/10.2337/dc10-0579

This study includes information about the antibodies present in most Type 2 diabetics. This
article allows the researcher to compare and contrast the most prominent antibodies found in
LADA and Type 2. This may expose a possible relation between the two.

This article includes information about the relationships between glucose levels in the blood and
loss of beta cell function. Additionally, it contains information and explanations about the
criteria specific to certain tests.
4. Who is the intended audience? How many responses do you intend to collect?

The intended audience is doctors and researchers specializing in endocrinology.

5. What is the distribution plan?

The distribution plan is to email researchers and doctors specializing in diabetes to read

over this article. Additionally, I will contact my advisor and see if she has a method to publish it.

Furthermore, I will try and get a chance to publish the article in a medical journal.
