The Benefits of Audit Command Language for Detecting Frauds

Accounting used to be done manually by writing down financial records and establish
financial statements such as income statement, statement of financial position, cash flow statement,
and statement of changes in equity. But there are too many risk of making financial statements
manually. Therefore nowadays, accounting systems have developed to help organizations making
financial statements more effective and efficient. One of the software that provides the most useful
help for organizations is ACL or Audit Command Language. With the help of ACL, organizations
can find irregularities in transactions that could indicate control weaknesses or even fraud.

ACL is a specifically designed software that provides data analytics, continuous

monitoring, cloud-based audit, also risk and compliance management. Using ACL, auditor can be
helped by doing the financial statements audit more focused, fast, efficient, and accurate. While
for management, ACL can be used for data analysis, testing the internal control, and making the
intended financial statements. Testing internal control is important to ensure that the risk of error
or fraud that can occur is low. When management has a large volumes of data, it can increase the
risk of error and fraud because not all of those data can be analyzed appropriately by auditor.
Because of this, auditor tend to find a better solution and ACL software is mostly included while
performing audit. There are many benefits of using ACL, such as easy to use, eliminates time-
sucking tasks, and unlock audit insights trapped in documents so that auditor can focus only on
the strategic areas of their clients’ organizations. Besides that, ACL software also provides data
automation to detect, enforce, remediate, and smartly manage unintended actions, like errors and
fraud, including corruption.

Managing an audit using ACL is the right choice to make. Technology is essentially made
for making human’s work became easier, to reduce potential errors, and to speed up the work.
Therefore, ACL as a technology is made to help auditor and management establish a fairly
presented financial statements, including successfully detecting errors and fraud.
