One of my ideas for a Regimental hero and a possible reason why the Regiment

maintains cavalry.

Field Marshall (formerly Captain) Uhlan of 1st Prussionian Cavalry

Carius Ernst Ulhan, Hero of the Imperium, Winner of the PLMRT ({Prussionian
Legioniary of the Militarum Remiment of Terra} a Medal in the Prussionians normally
reserved for men who die in the line of heroic duty.)

{Actually a play on Pour Le'Merit the Imperial German VC/Medal of Honour}

Uhlan took command of his Unit after the Deaths of Lt. Colonel Einhart and Major's
Franklut and Magdan. Uhlan rallied the shattered squadron after a disatrous charge
and intended to make an orderly withdrawal
when the 2/39th Conscript Battalion collapsed and Eldar Jetbikers poured through
the breech. Ulhan lead his shattered Squadron in hand to hand combat with the Eldar
Bikers, Lance met Lance as horse battled Jetbike.

The Eldar's breakhrough was stopped, soon after however the flanks of the
Prussionian army collapsed and soon Uhlan and his men were surrounded. Calling in
close air support Uhlan and his men cut their way out of the melee.

With the army destroyed and totally overrun Uhlan lead his surviving men on
punative raids destroying Eldar relay stations and forward outposts. He and his men
survived for three months constantly evading the Eldar's traps and tricks.
The Prussionians returned with true Regiments rather than the previous army of
Conscripts and PDF only to find Captain Uhlan commanding a rag tag army (400-500
men) of surviving Prussionians all mounted on horses and highly mobile.

The Prussionian's crushed the Eldar, forcing them to retreat through their strange
Xenos witchcraft. Uhlan lead a dozen charges with his now elite cavalry unit
including one against a Battalion of Eldar tanks (although official records
leave out the fact he was supported by three tank Battalion's including one of
Baneblade's). After the War Uhlan wrote a book about his exploits during the
campaign which is one of the few memoirs allowed to be read by the civillians
of Prussionia.

He was instantly promoted to Field Marshall and plays a large part in the continued
existance of the Prussionian Cavalry. Where ever he goes Regiments spring up where
before there was barely enough men to make a squad. Draft dodgers and malingerers
report for duty while
entire factories shut their doors and join the Cavalry at the smallest glimpse of
him. Whole classes of students throw their books on the floor in exchange for the
lance and saddle of the Cavalry. He didn't start the Cavalry but he's the biggest
thing
keeping it alive.

The Prussionian's have recently formed their own Scion Equivilent known as the
Stosstruppen Project or INCASE for short (Infiltrate. Neutralise. Consolidate.
Adapt. Survive. Escape.).

INCASE created three detachments of One Hundred Men in secret and armed them with
the best short range weaponry and finest armour the Regiments can provide. They can
ride, fire artillery, drive tanks and fly aircraft.

INCASE was created to allow the Prussionian high Command to respond to immediate
threats that require a delicate and swift resolution such as assassinations or
sabotage missions without having to requision specialised Scions or Assassins.

Their first success was in breaking the stalemate of ULUXAS TRIARUS where a shield
generator protected a Tau weapon emplacement which halted any advance the Infantry,
Cavalry, Armour or Navy made. Twenty Stosstruppen flew two Valkries
through the shield at low speed and at night to avoid the automated turrets and
pass through the shield. Once inside the Valkries were rigged with explosives and
the Stosstruppen split into two teams of ten. Team A set explosives on geneators
and central control nodes while Team B set explosives on the barracks and command
centre. The teams then split again into the standard five man opperational unit
Section Leader, Medic, Weapons Specialist, Radio Opperator and Demolitionist.

The bombs had to be detonated inside the shield so the teams worked their way to
the edge of the area and triggered the detonations. They spent the next eight days
evading Tau Patrols and Imperial Scouts (In order to maintain their secrecy)
before being picked up personally by Marshall Von Yiddle in recently knocked out
and repaired Chimera's that were officially written off as wrecks. This success
lead to the expansion of the unit which now opperate in every detachment in the
field.
