TOPIC: HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Order: Topical Order
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the increasing number of human trafficking
cases and thus some actions need to be taken in order to combat this serious crimes.
Central Idea: The most significant aspects of human trafficking are identifying the background
of human trafficking cases, analyzing the seriousness of the issue by exploring the statistics and
finally discovering the solutions and recommendations in order to combat the crime.
Introduction
I. Attention getter – Pan was born to a poor family in the northern Shan State of
Myanmar. She never had the opportunity to go to school and could not secure any
employment in Myanmar. Life was difficult and her family lived in perpetual poverty.
When she was a young lady, her mother asked her if she would go to work abroad
and she agreed to do so. She supposedly went to Thailand eventually she was in
Malaysia. During the journey, she was not provided with proper accommodation. She
was brought to a home where she was kept in a room with the locked door. The next
day, she was taken to a spa to work there as serving customers and performing sex
work. She objected and requested to be sent back to Myanmar once she paid RM
8000 to her employer.
II. Expert Testimony – There is a total estimate of 29.8 million people enslaved around
the globe in 2013, according to the Global Slavery Index reported by the Walk Free
Foundation.
III. Personal Testimony – I have watched a documentary on internet about the victims of
human trafficking especially women and children thus it got me intrigued to do
further research about this issue. So, I have also read extensively about human
trafficking from several cases study and credible sources such as journals.
IV. I would review further about human trafficking in order to combat the crime by
identifying the background of human trafficking cases, analyzing the seriousness of
the issue by exploring the statistics and finally discovering the solutions and
recommendations.

Body
I. Human trafficking is a type of modern slavery in 21st century era. It is a clearly crime
that seized the human rights thus thousands of people are being trafficked in their
own countries and abroad.
A. The cases has been increasing recently and has become an alarming issue that
needs to be taken seriously.
II. The following charts will highlight the extent and seriousness of the cases of human
trafficking worldwide. The pie chart shows the global estimate of human trafficking
by form of forced labor in 2012.
A. Labor exploitation cases contributed the largest portion of 68% of global
estimates are the victims in year 2012.
1. One of the factors of human trafficking cases is the political conditions which
lead to destabilization and scattering of populations that increase the
vulnerability towards victim.
B. Sexual exploitation reported the second rank which 22% are the victims with 4.5
million cases reported.
1. The second reason is the social and cultural practices that some of the cultures
devalue abuse and exploit women and children thus creating a dangerous
living conditions for them.
C. Regional trafficking flows within the same sub-region and cross-border showed
the highest cases which are 45%.
1. Most of the victims want to escape their poverty conditions to gain wealthy.
D. Domestic trafficking showed a slightly decrease of human trafficking cases with
27% compared to regional trafficking flows.
1. The saddest factor is some of the parents who are willingly to sell their
children and teens not just for the sake of financial but hoping for them to
have a better life with more opportunities.
III. The human rights of trafficking victims can be protected by applying these
recommendations
A. The government must be provided a special court established to expedite the
resolution of cases pertaining to anti-trafficking in persons and inform the victims
of the status of their cases.
B. The Client Service Management manual must be implemented by the government
in all shelters.
C. The government have to accede to the International Convention on the Protection
of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

Conclusion
I. Logical Ending Sentence
Human trafficking is a serious crime that we as community should be alarming of the
issue thus we have to be alert with our surrounding because we never know one of
our friend would be the victim.
II. As a whole, after we identified the background of human trafficking cases, analyzed
the seriousness of the issue by exploring the statistics hence discovered the solutions
and recommendations we are able to combat the crime.
III. The government provide a special court established to expedite the resolution of cases
pertaining to anti-trafficking in persons and inform the victims of the status of their
cases.
The Client Service Management manual must be implemented by the government in
all shelters.
