BBIT 333/CISY422 Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (3 Credits)

Prerequisite: BBIT 111, SOST 136, MATH211

Purpose of the Course:

The student is introduced to basic concepts in Artificial Intelligence and explores Artificial
Intelligence use in business applications.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

 Understand the design and implementation of intelligent agents.

 Understand basic principles and applications of Artificial Intelligence.

 Understand the basic areas of artificial intelligence including problem solving, knowledge
representation, reasoning, decision making, planning, perception and action, and learning and
their applications.

Course Content:

Definition of intelligence, Modeling intelligence: Adaptive and Knowledge Based Approaches to


Analysis and Design of Intelligent Systems, Application Domains of Artificial Intelligence in
Business. Types of Artificial Intelligence systems.

Mode of Delivery:

 Lectures.

 Lab Practical Sessions.

 Group based Learning.

 Independent Study.

Instructional Materials and/or Equipment:

 A computer installed with a software machine learning tool such as WEKA.

Course Assessment:

 Continuous Assessment 40%

 Final Exam 60%
