Part III: Observation Summary

Strengths: This lesson is well-connected to the literature piece and to social issues. The activity is academically challenging and should elicit high level
thinking from students. The use of technology is greatly enhancing the classroom experience for students.

Work on: Allowing more time for students to thoroughly complete the assignment, including a complete map. To encourage more discussion with the
whole class, give students more time to think about, talk about, or write about the questions ahead of time. The discussion questions and reflection
questions were very high level and more students may participate in the discussion. Continue using management strategies that are effective.
