KR CONCEPT Guide Placement Charts (Spinning)

Fuji’s new KR CONCEPT has rattled traditional thinking and expanded FUJI’s ongoing efforts to provide rod build-
ers with up-to-the-minute information on the most advanced guide placement theory available. FUJI is the only
company worldwide with a full-time team of highly experienced component researchers, designers and develop-
ers devoted to optimizing blank performance through better guide design. And FUJI is the only company dedi-
cated to providing a “system” of use for its products that starts with frame and ring selection and ends with size
and position information based not on hearsay but on hard empirical data collected during the development and
testing of every new product.

When to use these charts

Anglers Resource provides a wealth of information on FUJI products including our proprietary GPS for precise
placement of FUJI Guides when information about the selected reel is available. For times when specific reel info
is not available or the final purpose of the rod is not known or may change, it may be appropriate to turn to a more
standard spacing chart for KR CONCEPT rod layouts. These layout suggestions are offered by FUJI and will
provide performance that offers all the advantages of the KR CONCEPT. As with every layout technique, the
following placement guidelines are intended as a starting point only. Rod power, action, and bend characteristics
may alter the optimum position for any guide in a particular layout.

Notes about the KR CONCEPT

1) The KR CONCEPT utilizes the newest K-Series guide frames from FUJI. Be sure to spec the FUJI KL-H
style frame for reduction guides, the KB style guides for the mid-rod guides and the KT frame for the
running guides. This will offer the lightest possible completed rod.

2) A KR CONCEPT stripper location is identical to a New Guide Concept stripper. If you have located your stripper
using another layout method (GPS, 27X, Table Edge etc) you can work with listed choke point distances beyond
the stripper to construct a KR guide train. If you do not know the stripper location, they are provided in each rod
layout below.

3) KR CONCEPT uses a new idea called Rapid Choke. Rapid Choke is included in the layouts below but FUJI
indicates that in some cases the choke point can be moved even closer to the reel than indicated in the charts. This
is due to the soft, pliable nature of braided line. If you choose to experiment with closer choke points and even
smaller stripper sizes, be sure to adjust the position of the transition guides (the second and third guide out from
the reel) to maintain FUJI’s “isosceles triangle” configuration between the stripper and choke point.

Stripper position is measured from Choke point is indicated as a

the reel stem to the guide ring. distance beyond the stripper.

Note: KR CONCEPT changes the angle of line travel

at the stripper, bringing it down faster and controlling
line sooner for smoother, longer casts and better control.

KR CONCEPT Placement Charts
If you choose to add guides to the layouts below we suggest moving the choke point closer to the reel and
repositioning the two transition guides (between the stripper and the choke guide). Try to leave the stripper
in the suggested position unless you have specific knowledge of the reel to be used and its upsweep.
