Section Three:

1. What interested you in contracting with EF to provide online ESL services?

More than any other language, English is the lingua franca for global communication.
Mastery of English is a pathway to many successful careers and other opportunities. With
over two decades of experience, I believe EF has the resources and a proven track record
to help determined learners realize their objectives. Furthermore, as someone who enjoys
travelling and meeting people from other backgrounds and cultures, I believe that working
at EF would be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, as its services span multiple
continents. Finally, EF offers exciting opportunities for personal development, such as
continual professional development sessions, assistance with becoming a fully certified ESL
teacher, and even the chance to teach abroad. In my opinion, such incentives create a
positive work environment and motivate teachers to do their best.

6. As clearly and briefly as possible, explain (in your own words) the difference between the

Accept / Except To accept someone or something (such as an idea) can be thought

of as a way of saying yes. Acceptance signifies inclusiveness and a willingness to
accommodate. In contrast, except is a way to say no, or exclude, someone or
something.

Your / You’re You’re is an abbreviated form of “you are” and should only be used
when such an abbreviation makes sense. For example, “you’re house” is incorrect
since it is equivalent to “you are house.” Whereas “you’re going to France” is
correct since it is equivalent to “you are going to France.”

Advice / Advise Advice is a noun. It can be thought of as someone’s opinion or

recommendation. A noun is a person, place, or thing. In this case, advice
corresponds to “thing.” In contrast, advise is a verb, since it denotes an action. The
action is one of offering a solution to a problem or proposing a way to do something.
