CLINICAL PRACTICE EVALUATION 2

Once this evaluation is completed and submitted, the score is final and cannot be changed or altered by the GCU Faculty Supervisor or by GCU
staff.

1. Warm up. Students meet in pairs to discuss the morning question, then spend five or so
minutes writing about the prompt in their journals.
2. Spelling test
3. Go over Domino Soup play
a. Students get out their language arts books and open to our story/play
b. Ask students if they have ever been to a play
c. Go over what a play is and what a script is
d. Talk about the dialogue and stage directions as well as let students know that they
will be performing the skit in small groups next week, as well as how we are
going to be comparing different versions of the story.
e. Talk about how a play is broken up into different acts
f. Make predictions with an “I predict…/because…” chart
g. Ask students to pay attention to the teamwork and cooperation that is used in the
story.
4. Read Domino Soup
a. Students read independently, then with a partner
5. Go over story elements
a. Characters, setting, and plot worksheet to be filled out with partners
b. I will go over the sheet with the whole class under the document cameras
c. Talk about what kind of person Luz is, ask students about how the people in the
neighborhood used teamwork
6. Talk about if our predictions were correct
7. Write a letter to a character from their play about his or her actions. Use some of our
vocabulary words: add, enough, alone, cooperate, possible, teamwork, together, team
members, society
