 1. INTRODUCTION

Based on the theories and knowledge acquired in the Construction Management

Subject, taught by Professor Pedro Manuel Gameiro Henriques, we developed a report
describing the process of classifying and quantifying elements used for civil construction
from the architectural project of Lote 27 on Quintas dos Matos Grandes, in Camarate.

This subject highlights the concepts for execution of projects, from the quantity
and cost management, in addition to planning and organizing the costs and deadlines of
works.

2. OBJECTIVES

From the records of the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, we will execute
the first part of the study. The technical drawings of the floor are identified and organized
by rooms, and the elements used in the architectural design are selected. From this, the
measurements and calculations of the elements are transcribed into a spreadsheet,
which determines the value of the elements with objectivity.

3. STUDY OBJECT

The Residential Building in Quintas dos Matos Grandes was designed by the
atelier "Planus 3", of the architects Antônio Santos Martins and Ricardo Roque Martins.
The construction consists of two types of apartments, T2 and T3, and the apartment that
will be analyzed by the group is the T2.

4. DEVELOPMENT

In an architectural project, all elements present in the design must be related. The
measurement tables serve for the association of the materials to the construction site
and for the economy of the raw material used, so that the project and the execution are
in agreement with the work contract. The measurement spreadsheet is an agreement
between the architectural design and the responsible workforce, and any fail or change
in design execution interferes in the final costs of the project.

Most of the time, the measurement table is done similarly for all types of work,
and this happens because there are pre-established criteria. The drawn items must
follow the rules and measurement criteria and must be properly dimensioned, and in
case of changes, this must be communicated previously. In addition, the materials and
products chosen must follow the building standards. The measurement cannot neglect
any element represented in the design, and the efficiency of the workmanship and
materials must be verified. Finally, for the table to work even better, it is ideal that the
chapters are organized by elements of the same nature, in a sequence that simplifies
the reading.

5. MEASURAMENT CRITERIA

Measurements were defined for the group by the following criteria:

5.1 Masonry

From the drawing, the interior and exterior walls were considered. There
are different types of walls in the project, some for fence and others for
structuring. There are exterior walls of brick with 30cm and 25cm, and interior
walls of 15cm. In addition, there are 25cm frame walls and 10cm walls are used
in areas such as cabinets. This thickness is already determined with finish.

5.2 Stonework

The use of Stonework is usually present in the connection of rooms and

when there is change of materials. It is used in the entrance of buildings, halls,
sills and yards, and in the top of the kitchen sink.

Only one type of door was designed inside the apartment, named P1
(0.8m X 2.0m) of American Oak, the same material as the door of the two
cabinets, of different sizes.

5.7 Painting

The painting will be done on walls and ceilings. The paint used inside the
apartment is water based and requires the use of primer. In addition, an anti-
fungal paint is going to be used in sanitary facilities and in the kitchen. In these
rooms, the painting is necessary only in the ceiling, since the walls will be covered
in Cinca type tile.
