The Wilton Fine Arts Guild is The Des Moines Metro Opera for a production for the Wilton School. They are doing a
production of Jack and the Beanstalk for the 2018 season. They will be performing on Tuesday, April 3rd.

Along with the opera, there will be workshops for 5th and 6th graders. They will have the unique experience of work-
ing more closely with the opera singers in one of three workshops they may choose.

We look forward to the opera performance and appreciate Wilton Fine Arts Guild bringing more exposure to the arts
to the elementary children.
Wilton Junior-Senior High School April Newsletter 2018

Thank you to all the parents who attended parent-teacher conferences on February 28 and
March 7, 2018. We certainly want to set aside times for parents to visit with teachers, but
please contact the school at any time if you have questions or concerns. Everyone is
trying hard to make school a positive experience for all involved.

We are well into the fourth quarter now. The fourth quarter seems to go by faster than
the other three quarters. Right now, the last day of school is on May 23, 2018 unless we
have missed days for inclement weather. There are so many activities going on and
everyone is anxious for the end of the year. Wilton High School will perform “The
Hobbit” on Thursday, April 5 and Friday, April 6, 2018 in the Junior High Auditorium at
7:00 p.m. both nights. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students. Another major
event is Promenade and Prom which will be on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

We also have three home track meets this year. There will be a High School Track Meet
on Monday, April 9, 2018. There will be home Junior High Track Meets on Tuesday,
April 17, 2018 and Thursday, April 26, 2018. You will notice that a few updates were
done last summer. That would include new concrete pads for the shot put and discus
areas and a new enclosure and net for the discus area. After the track season is
completed, updates will be made to the long jump pits.

Mr. Wyatt, students, and chaperones will be gone on the North American Band Tour
April 11-April 17, 2018. Thirty-two students will be attending this year. We also enjoy
doing our senior etiquette dinner at St. Ambrose in Davenport. The date of the etiquette
dinner is Wednesday, April 18, 2018. This will be a four-course dinner and is part of the
Senior Life Skills Class. Jeff Nichols, who is a 1996 graduate of Wilton High School,
will be the guest speaker. Jeff is a former Navy Seal and currently works with
professional athletes and teams on preparation and mental toughness.

April is really a month where we finalize a lot of activities for this year, but we also
spend time getting ready for next year. Seniors are getting excited as the weather warms
up and they plan their graduation parties.

Please stay connected to Wilton Junior-Senior High School on Facebook and on Twitter.
