To Whom It May Concern,

The members of the UndocuAlly Working Group stand in solidarity with Cal Poly’s Black and
Latinx community, which include students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and condemn the racist
and xenophobic actions taken by Lambda Chi Alpha at their event on April 7th, 2018, during
PolyCultural Weekend. As part of the infrastructure at Cal Poly that is designed to increase
inclusivity and equity, we commit to bold actions to support students, staff, faculty and alumni
of color and urge others – particularly those with the most power and privilege on-campus – to
join us.

The racism and ignorance that was evident in the event by Lambda Chi Alpha was one of many
against our students of color, and we have heard from a numerous amount of students in
various occasions that these actions are violent, oppressive, and need to be addressed
immediately by the administration as per the statement from Black Student Union and
demands made by the Drylongso Collective.

Anti-blackness prevails in all communities, and it is recognize that the undocumented
community isn’t exempt. We recognize the erasure of Black and Afro-Latinx immigrants within
this community, and commit to lifting up the voices and experiences of these members of the
community in our work.

We would like to take this opportunity to share resources specifically designed for black
undocumented immigrants:

● UndocuBlack Network | http://undocublack.org
● Black Alliance for Just Immigration | http://baji.org
● Families for Freedom | http://familiesforfreedom.org

The Dream Center is a resource on our campus that is readily available to holistically support all
of our undocumented student population. Katherine Zevallos Pastor, the coordinator, can be
contacted through email at dreamcenter@calpoly.edu and more information on resources
available can be found on the Dream Center website at www.dreamcenter.calpoly.edu.

In solidarity,
