 The best way to enter a curve is slow down before entering the curve.

 When a school bus has stopped at a school to pick up or let off children, you may pass from either direction at a speed of no
more than 10 mph.

 Passing on the right is allowed only on roads with more than one lane going in the same direction, when the motorist ahead is
turning left and there is a room to pass.

 In the event of a crash or sudden stop, use of seat belts may keep you from being thrown from the car, keep you from hitting
the windshield or dashboard, keep you from sliding off the seat and losing control of the car.

 The New Jersey speed limit in a business or residential area, unless otherwise posted is 25 mph.

you can see clearly through the back window, without the use of mirrors.

 Pedestrians are the most vulnerable roadway users.

 You not allowed to pass another vehicle if the center lines are solid lines.

 During daylight hours when rain snow or ice, motorists must turn on wipers and headlights.

 In addition to a possible fine, when operating a vehicle on public or private property to avoid a traffic control signal or sign, a
motorist will also receive a 2 point moving violation

 When driving at night, be sure that you can stop within the distance you can see ahead.

 On snow covered roads, a good rule is to maintain a following distance of six seconds or more.

 Speed can be a factor between life and death; therefore it will take 300 feet of braking distance to stop on a dry surface, when
driving at a speed of 60 mph.

 To avoid hydroplaning and losing control of the vehicle on a wet road surface, you should slow down and drive on the highest
point of the road.

 Driving at a speed of 35 mph or more on wet road surfaces, can cause the tires to hydroplane and the motorist to lose control
of the vehicle.

 A probationary driver, during daylight hours when raining must have windshield wipers and headlights on.

 If your wheels drift onto the dirt shoulder of the road and you want to return to the paved road, you should slow down, ease up
on the gas pedal, turn back onto the pavement slowly.

 If your brakes suddenly give out, the first thing you should try to do is shift to a lower gear and pump the brakes.

 If the gas pedal sticks, before calling for help, you should keep your eyes on the road and quickly shift to neutral and steer the
vehicle off the roadway.

 In city driving, a good habit and rule of thumb is to look 12 seconds ahead, drive more slowly, and watch for pedestrians.

 If under 21, New Jersey law states that you may be under the influence if your BAC blood alcohol level content is (.01%).

 If a vehicle is passing you, you should slow down to make it easier for the driver to complete the pass.

 Driving while under the influence of intoxicating beverages means your senses or judgment are impaired by alcohol.

 If your vehicle starts to skid, you should take your foot off the gas pedal.

 To avoid a spin, while in a skid, you should turn in the same direction the rear of the vehicle is skidding.

 After 2 to 4 drinks, alcohol begins to impair your reaction time, coordination and balance and judgment.

 The best way to reduce your chance of having an alcohol related accident is to not drive at all after drinking.

 If a person has been drinking, only time can sober them up.

 If you drink and have reached a BAC of slightly above .05%, the risk of you causing a motor vehicle accident is doubled.

 If a motorist has reached a BAC of .10%, the risk of causing a motor vehicle accident is six times as great

 You can reduce your chances of being involved in an accident by knowing and using the standard accident prevention formula: be alert, be
prepared, and act in time.

 If you have a tire blowout slow down gradually and remove the foot from the gas pedal.

 To regain control while in a skid, you should turn the vehicle in the same direction the back of the car is skidding.

 It is good practice to keep a space cushion to give you time to react.

 One and one-half ounces of 86 proof whiskey contains the same amount of alcohol as 12 ounces of beer.

 A 5 ounce glass of wine (12%) contains the same amount of alcohol as a 12 ounce bottle or can of beer.

 Whether your blood alcohol content rises above legal limits depends on the amount you drink, your weight, the time you take to drink.

 The “3 seconds plus rule” can be used at any speed to help you keep a safe following distance.

 Implied Consent Law means when you drive a motor vehicle you automatically agree to take a breath test following an arrest for a
suspected drinking and driving offense.

 In most cases, pedestrians have the right – of –way at all intersections?

 A motorist should increase following distance (make the space cushion bigger) behind a truck or other large vehicle.

 A motorist should be cautious in farm country or in open land because of unexpected crossing of livestock and/or deer.

 The mandatory penalty if you are underage and caught with a BAC of .01 or more is a 30-90 day suspension of driving privileges, 15-
30 days community service, participate in an IDRC safety program.

 When your driving privilege is restored for points suspension or after completing a Driver Improvement Program, you will be on a
probationary period for 1 year.
