1. “If x is an odd integer and y is an even integer, then x  y is odd”.

4. “If n is an even integer, then n  1 is odd”.

Give a proof by contradiction of this theorem.

5. “If x and y is odd integers, then x  y is even”.

6. “If x and y are even integers, then xy is even”.

7. “If x is an odd integer, then x  2 is odd”.

8. “If n is an even integer, then n  1 is odd”.

9. “If n is an odd integer, then n2 is odd”.

Give a proof by contraposition of this theorem.
