Codeware Interface System Requirements

Software

o• Dassault Systèmes
o SOLIDWORKS® Standard (2017 – 2018)
o SOLIDWORKS® Professional (2017 – 2018)
o SOLIDWORKS® Premium (2017 - 2018)

• OR -

Autodesk®
o Inventor® (2017-2018)
o Inventor Professional® (2017-2018)

• Internet browser (web browser) and Internet access to use the online Support Center (help
and downloads)

Operating System

• All Windows operating systems which are supported by the above Autodesk Inventor or
SOLIDWORKS software packages

Permission

• To perform a Codeware Interface installation you must have Local Administrator privileges
• Codeware Interface users do not need Local Administrator privileges

Computer and Processor

• The same requirements as the above Autodesk Inventor or SOLIDWORKS software packages

Hard Disk

• 250 MB of available disk space

Additional disk space (100 MB) may be needed if the .Net Framework is not already installed on your
computer. If it is not already installed, it will be downloaded during the Codeware Interface
installation process.

Installation Instructions

Before You Begin

• Ensure your computer meets the system requirements outlined on the previous page.
• To perform this installation you must have Local Administrator privileges on your computer.
This can be verified by selecting Start > Control Panel > User Accounts. If you do not have
Local Administrator privileges, please contact your IT department.
• It is strongly recommended that you exit all other running programs before performing this
installation.

Use the table below to determine which build of Codeware Interface you need to install:

A file exported by: Can be imported into Inventor or SOLIDWORKS using:

COMPRESS 2018 Build 7800


Codeware Interface 2018 Build 7800
INSPECT 2018 Build 7800

Codeware Interface only imports models that have been exported by COMPRESS or INSPECT
with matching first three digits of the Build Number (e.g. 780X). When you upgrade
COMPRESS or INSPECT you also need to upgrade Codeware Interface.

A Note on Registration and Activation

You must register and activate your Codeware Interface license to continue using it beyond the 30
day provisional period. You will be prompted to register at the end of the installation process.

Codeware Interface is available at no additional cost provided that your COMPRESS or INSPECT
support is current.

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

1. Launch the installation build from one of the previously listed sources on your computer.
This computer must also have Autodesk Inventor and/or SOLIDWORKS installed. An
installation of COMPRESS or INSPECT is not required.

2. If the User Account Control popup appears, select Yes to continue.

3. Prerequisites – Codeware Interface requires the following utilities to be


installed:

• Codeware Key Update Utility


• Sentinel HASP Run-Time Installer
• Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package
• Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 64-bit

If these utilities are not detected you will be prompted to install them. Follow the
instructions and accept the license agreements. Once the prerequisites are met, the
Codeware Interface installation will continue.

4. With the pre-requisites fulfilled, the InstallShield Wizard for Codeware Interface will appear.
Read the instructions on the welcome screen. Click Next.

5. Please read the License Agreement. Accept the terms of the License Agreement and click
Next. If you do not wish to accept our License Agreement, click Cancel and return the
software and related documentation to Codeware.

6. Choose the Destination Location for this installation. Click Next. It is recommended that you
accept the default folder.

7. An installation of Autodesk Inventor or SOLIDWORKS is required to install Codeware


Interface. If neither software package is detected, the following dialogs will appear. Once
Autodesk Inventor or SOLIDWORKS has been installed, you can install Codeware Interface.

8. Choose your installation setup type.

Select Complete to automatically install Codeware Interface within the software package(s)
installed on your computer (Autodesk Inventor, SOLIDWORKS or both).

Select Custom to choose which software package to install within.

9. Click Install to begin the installation process. Click Back to review or change your installation
settings.

10. Wait for the InstallShield Wizard to complete.

11. Click Finish to proceed.

12. Carefully read the compatibility message and click Finish to conclude the installation.

13. Once the installation has finished you will be prompted to register your Codeware Interface
license (recommended).

14. After your information has been successfully submitted you will receive the following
confirmation message. Select Next to retrieve your Activation File.

Select Next to apply your activation file.

You will receive the following message once your license is activated:

If your submission is unsuccessful, you will receive the following message and you will be
notified by email. If you do not receive any notification, try again later.

15. If your license is not registered within 30 days it will be disabled. You can submit your
registration information at a later time by selecting Codeware > Help > Activate License
within Inventor or SOLIDWORKS.

Repairing Codeware Interface

At times it may be necessary to repair the installation. The Repair option will replace the installation
files and restore the installation.

To repair, you must have Local Administrator privileges on your computer or right click the icon and
“Run as Administrator.” You can verify your account type by selecting Start > Control Panel > User
Accounts. If you do not have Local Administrator privileges, please contact your IT department.

To Repair:

1. Select Start > Programs > Codeware > Codeware Interface 2018 > Codeware Interface 2018
Build 78XX > Remove, Repair Codeware Interface.

2. Click Next to continue to the Repair operation.

3. The maintenance screen will appear. Select Repair and then click Next.

4. Click Install to continue with the Repair operation.

5. The Repair operation will automatically reinstall all program features installed by the
previous setup. A repair finished screen will appear when the operation is complete.

Uninstalling Codeware Interface

To uninstall, you must have Local Administrator privileges on your computer or right click the icon
and “Run as Administrator.” You can verify your account type by selecting Start > Control Panel >
User Accounts. If you do not have Local Administrator privileges, please contact your IT department.

To Uninstall:

1. Select Start > Programs > Codeware > Codeware Interface 2018 > Codeware Interface 2018
Build 78XX > Remove, Repair Codeware Interface.

2. Click Next to continue to the Remove operation.

3. The maintenance screen will appear. Select Remove and then click Next.

4. Click Remove to continue with uninstalling, Back to return to the maintenance screen or
Cancel to exit the uninstall program.

5. A confirmation screen will appear when Codeware Interface is successfully uninstalled.
