SUBJECT: Confusion related to FORCED MODE operation.

BACKGROUND: The procedure to enter and the operation of “Forced Mode” are
not clear in the Service Manual. This Service Bulletin will help to clarify how to
operate the unit in Forced Mode. Forced Mode is used to test the Compressor
and the Defrost Heaters. Also some Forced Mode LED codes have been added
that will be explained below. These codes do not indicate errors.

ENTRY PROCEDURE:
1. Press and hold down the “Power Cool” and “Refrigerator Temp” buttons
simultaneously for 8 seconds.
2. The unit will enter the Ready Mode and both LED displays will go blank.

FORCED MODE PROCEDURE:

1. From the Ready Mode, press any one of the front panel buttons once to
enter the “Pull Down” mode. This is the Compressor test. Within 10
seconds, (FF) will appear in the Freezer LED display and a temperature
setting will be displayed in the Refrigerator LED display (For example 38
degrees).

2. To change FORCED MODE operations, return to the Ready Mode by

holding down “Power Cool” and “Refrigerator Temp” buttons
simultaneously for 8 seconds.

3. From the Ready Mode, press any one of the front panel buttons twice to
enter the “R-Defrost” mode. This mode is used to test the Defroster in the
Refrigerator compartment only. Within 10 seconds, (Fd) will appear in the
Freezer LED display and ( d) will appear in the Refrigerator LED display.

4. From the Ready Mode, press any one of the front panel buttons three
times to enter the “F/R-Defrost” mode. In this mode, both Defrost Heaters
are tested. Within 10 seconds, (Fd) will appear in the Freezer LED display
and ( d) will appear in the Refrigerator LED display.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURE:
1. Unplug the unit for no less than 15 seconds.

Note: If no buttons are pressed during the entry procedure, the units will remain
in Ready mode for approximately 15 seconds before returning to normal
operation.
